Well, fuck.

>The Harvard University survey, which polled young adults between ages 18 and 29, found that 51 percent of respondents do not support capitalism. Just 42 percent said they support it.

That's not how you spell "economic and social collapse".

Is capitalism as a concept the problem, or the people?
>>73930366
Nothing wrong. Capitalism is jewish thing.
51% of respondents have no idea what capitalism is. They just know that Occupy Democrats and 'ol Bernie tells them they shouldn't like it.
>>73930366
This is awesome news.
>>73930366
>Who /readyforthegulag/ here?
More like /readyforhelicopterrides/
>>73930460
In other words, you are an anti-social shithead who is lonely dwelling in his parent's house.
>>73930701
I got news for you, Clive. You right wingers arent really a bunch of deep thinkers, either.
>>73930366
Good. Free market ≠ capitalism. Capitalism is globalism that forces you to neglect your country, countrymen, and environment so fat cats can pinch shekels and squeeze labor.
Now we just have to make fashy goys out of these young socialists. Mussolini used to be one before he experienced war.
>implying that most of us has any real knowledge of how capitalism and socialism works
Well, this comes at no surprise. Millennials are the most educated generation. Anyone who accepts capitalism is a mentally enslaved moron.
>>73930898
Nope. I merely believe the government should help it's own people, and ensure any business operating within our borders must hold the health and integrity of the people before something foreign.
>>73930366
>A majority of millennials
>millennials
wow its fucking NOTHING
Jews dirtied the word 'capitalism' so millennials think it's bad. If you asked them if they supported a free/mixed market economy (which is essentially capitalism), more of them would say yes.
>>73930964
>implying that there is any place in the world that there is free market
That's why we will never be able to make capitalism work

That's a really big majority you got there. And it's kids. I bet this statistic was just as true in the 60s and 70s as it is today. Kids are dumb and are liberal, big shocker there.
>>73931092
Millenials are larger than the babyboomer generation and once they're all legal to vote and have some inclination to, they're going to the largest voting pool the United States has ever had.

Millennials are becoming increasingly polarized. They're either total "GAS THE KIKES" far right or they're far left Bernie people.
It's going to be an interesting battle.
>>73931604
Of course :^)
Ill leave this here
>>73930366

>>73930366
what did they say about socialism?
Millennials are people born from 1982 to 1994
I'm pretty sure 99% of everyone in here is one.
Capitalism is an ubermensch ideal. Plebs can't into it and complain. Simple.
Why opposing communism to capitalism as only possible option? Capitalism fitted the industrial revolution times, but from now, replacing lowest workspaces with robots will need something more social based. Economy of goverment will be not so much about tricking other people in race for the rich as it is now.
I blame boomers.

Arnt millenials the most materialistic generation? How ironic that they reject capitalism but can't live a day without their iphones, starbucks, brand name clothes, etc
>ask dumb gender studies and liberal arts students at a Leftist indoctrination camp aka university
>be surprised when most of them are Socialist fuckwads

Socialism/Communism are just as materialistic as capitalist.
If you want non-materialist existence, you have to go to a religion or a cult, or become a hermit.
they probably reject capitalism because boomers are still hoarding all the wealth. a lot of these kids are better educated than their parents, while making less now than their parents did 30 years ago.
if boomers ever stop kicking away the ladder or start dying in droves in yoga accidents or something, millennials will start buying in too.
>>73932379
HAHA ur funny
>>73930366
Of course they do. They were raised with everything given them well beyond high school in an increasingly socialist country, with full blown socialism on the horizon. Why would they want capitalism?

>>73930366
Its not surprising. Nobody likes being saddled with debt just to have a decent life. We've seen capitalism fail in the most essential aspects of modern society: our healthcare system, our entertainment, our internet, our cell phone, our education, airline etc
>>73932379
Of it would, but not nearly as developed as today. That's literally capitalism strong point: is really good for producing.

I'm 20 years old and can personally attest to the fact that 99% of girls who talk about this and post stuff with tags like #rejectcapitalism could not give you a definition of the word capitalism and do not practice what they preach in any way. Social awareness shit has just become the new trend for our generation, and that's literally all it is; a trend. Girls see it on social media, want to pretend that they believe in some cause, and want people to think they are socially active.
Their lives literally revolve around capitalism.

They haven't got a definition of capitalism beyond "free markets" and platitudes about mutual exchanges. They don't know anything about it's historic development or what makes it distinctive as an economic system. All they know is that capitalism is infallable, godlike, beyond reproach or criticism. Anyting good that happens in a society is a result of capitalism's inherent genius, anything bad is because capialism hasn't been allowed to flourish. It is dogma of a kind that even the most dedicated religious fundamentalists must admires since it's dogma to a long-discredited political philosophy rather than obedience to an omnipotent Creator.

In the early 1900's dr's were complaining that health care was too cheap so they ran to the government for regulations so costs would increase. How about modern day health insurance, did you know about bullshit state regulatory lines enforced by the government so health ins companies can have state markets cornered to jack up the prices?
>>73930366
>the reason why they have such a comfortable life is because us took a shit tons of resources from other places

.
Marx actually predicted England would be the first, cos it was the most advanced capitalist state, but following the failure of Chartism in the late 1840's he changed that to the United States, since they were the most advanced capitalist economy. The fact that socialism in countries where there was little or no capitalism in the first instance (such as Russia, China etc) ended up the way they did is entirely consistent with orthodox Marxism, rather than Leninist revisionism.
Labour Theory of Value was a theory developed and pioneered as part of classical liberalism, not Marxism. It's leading theorist was free-trade liberal David Ricardo. It's incorporation into Marxism a product of the fact that Marx was writing a "Critique of Political Economy" to give Das Kapital it's full title and as such takes as given the same assumption and norms that any bourgeois political economist would've made.
Communism was only ever popular in poor countries is factualy incorrect, since nearly every country in Europe (bar Britain) had a mass membership communist party that has challenged seriously for state power at some point and that have actually won elections here and there.
The early part of the cold war was a fight between Social Democracy (or "moderate Keynesianism, if you wish) and Stalinism, out of which Social Democracy did much better, but was also predicated on explicitly socialist and even Marxist lines (as both Leninism and Social Democracy are largely forms of revisionist Marxism) however it's worth pointing out that Western Europe has been substantially wealthier than Eastern Europe and Russia for at lest 300 years, and if anything the gap between the two blocs decreased rather than increased during the Soviet Union's existence.
Well when you get lied at and waste multiple years and money at college to only get a min wage job afterwards, what do you expect us to do. Continue believing your lies?

>>73930366
How the fuck do you define "capitalism" in any consistent sense in a context like that? I can imagine a lot of the people filling out the survey were thinking it was referring to anarcho-capitalism or something, obviously they can't be so against the entire notion of capitalism considering they are all guaranteed rich consumerists, right?
I don't think these kids knew what they were giving their opinion on, because they are retarded and the entire notion of being "in support of or in rejection of capitalism" is so abstract.

The vast majority of millennialist can't even give a coherent definition of capitalism and socialism, much less grasp their demands and consequences.
But this is good news, great news. Few things would make me happier then a serious international socialist 'uprising' that would attract all the niggers and degenerates of the world, have them win a few victories to get confident brash, and then have the US military blow the ever-loving fuck out of them. That doesn't surprise me. I'm sure during the 50s-70s education was great in this country. See above about the "size of government" and capitalism. You can't have small government and capitalism too. That's a fucking myth that the useful idiots of the rich were told to parrot.
>How about healthcare?
Healthcare in America is TOTALLY controlled by PRIVATE insurance agencies. That's why we have the highest cost of healthcare on Earth, yet don't even rank in the top ten for quality.

>>73934180
>if you're so smart tell us what capitalism is
It's a system production and exchange based on cycles of accumulation, selling commodities on the market and made possible by private property rights. It's distinguishing featues are reliable on markets at key points in the cycle, pursuit of profit that can be re-invested into the cycle, the buying and selling of labour as a commodity on the market (aka wage slavery), the use of technology and extensive divisions of labour to improve labour productivity, mass production, leading to benefits of economies of scale and finally centralisation of dispered traditional production techniques into more efficient centralised firms that have larger market share (for instance the way in which cottage industry was replaced by the factory system in the industrial revolution).
Would any more American conservatives like to know more about capitalism and it's historical development?
>>73934958
The rich get complacent, lose focus, and run out of ideas. The only way they hold onto power is because they pay lobbyists in the government to enforce regulations to keep other competitors out of the market. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-05-11/poultry-workers-in-diapers-as-bathroom-breaks-denied-oxfam-says
>Workers in plants run by the largest U.S. poultry producers are regularly being denied bathroom breaks and as a result some are reduced to wearing diapers while working on the processing line, Oxfam America said in a report Wednesday.
>“It’s not just their dignity that suffers: they are in danger of serious health problems,” said Oxfam America, the U.S. arm of the U.K.-based global development group. The group works for a “just world without poverty” and focuses on topics ranging from refugees in Greece to malnutrition.
>The report cited unnamed workers from Tyson Foods Inc., Pilgrim’s Pride Corp., Perdue Farms Inc. and Sanderson Farms Inc. who said that supervisors mock them, ignore requests and threaten punishment or firing. When they can go, they wait in long lines even though they are given limited time, sometimes 10 minutes, according to the report. Some workers have urinated or defecated themselves while working because they can’t hold on any longer, the report said. Some workers “restrict intake of liquids and fluids to dangerous degrees,” Oxfam said.

I was wondering how exactly you think 'private' property and control are defined.
One person making all the decisions of how a factory is run is certainly 'private.' A group of people making those decisions is 'private' control.
So who are you able to exclude from making decisions to no longer be 'private'? There's 7 billion people on Earth. Is excluding even one of them from a piece of land or a decision to be made private property or private control?

That's an hilarious lack of self-awareness on your part, burgerfat. Reaganite policies have run America into the ground for decades and we can't unchain ourselves from them because the rich were allowed to get out of hand and now they control everything and it makes them money to destroy the country, so they ship all jobs over seas while STILL demanding lower wages for workers and importing illegals they can hire at slave wages, they spread pornography everywhere and make Americans addicts to unhealthy habits, they keep at constant war so they can make money, etc. The rich are destroying this nation, and the fucking retarded conservacunts can't eat their cum enough for it, meanwhile bitching that America is going to hell.
>>73935274
Wrong, you fucking idiot. That is literally a libertarian religious view, not fact. Big businesses cause big government. But that's not even the real issue because there is absolutely nothing wrong with a bigger government. The problem is the fact the rich own it. And YOUR fucking retarded policies caused this mess. Not anyone else's. You wanted a flat tax. Well we basically have one now - especially compared to what we had in the 50s. You wanted the rich to have greater freedom - hell they barely pay their taxes anymore because we keep letting them hide all their assets overseas. You wanted lower wages, welp we got that too. It's only recently that this $15 shit has been happening. For decades minimum wage was NOT keeping up with the cost of living. You dumb bastards have already gotten almost everything you want, and the more things go your way, the worse they get. You're just fucking morons who can only think in the moment and can't understand that history is something exists. private property is defined in law and is based on the ability to exclude others with the backing of the state, the legitimate purveyor of violence.
Decision making and ownership are two related, but different, issues. In a socialist model, the workers would be the decision makers and the community-at-large (the commons, the commonwealth, etc etc) would be it's owners.

Millenials are a joke.
Most intelligent, liberal college kids have always rejected capitalism. And why shouldn't they? They're still young and full of vigor, they think they can change the world - and frankly, on paper, socialism makes perfect sense.
But give these kids 5-10 years in the real world, and their altruism will steadily dwindle until it's something they can't even bear to think about anymore, lest they must face their own hypocrisy in the mirror.

There's a cap on how much you pay in and the rich burn through that in about the first week of the year.

>>73936576
>And you don't think it's a problem that nobody can be excluded from decisions
Well that's a situation that exists to a great extent in capitalism already - the general public have no power to make decisions over privately controlled businesses, but I digress, since in a socialist society the idea is to extend the principles of democracy into the economic sphere, rather than leaving the economy in the hands of unaccountable private tryannies and oligarchs, so decision making about specific functions in production would be made by workers, in their own democratic institutions. Trade unions were originally meant to be the basis of this sort of decision making apparatus, the same with anarcho-syndicalism and co-ops, and the emergence of this network of "para-state apparatus" would take over the day-to-day decision making the state does, and is what leads to the Marxist idea of the state "withering away" as it's role becomes obsolete.
There would be infinitely more democracy in the economy than under capitalism but this would be by no means a free-for-all.

I'm not poor, I live extremely comfortable life over here, thanks to capitalism, which rewards me for my software writing skills.
Meritocracy is not about whether you deserve what you get. It's about rewarding according to individual's contributions. Which capitalism absolutely does in the long term.
>>73937477
I don't want to take anyone's things, it is completely unnecessary unless absolutely needed for the greater good of the nation.

What does it mean then? Because Captialism is for private property, and private markets.

>Millennials are fucking retards
No, you're a retard, for thinking that owning an iphone invalidates someones criticism of capitalism.
Guess what, every morsel of food they've ever eaten since the day they were born was purchsed via a market as a commodity and sold at a profit to benefit the capitalist property-owner of whichever business produced it - does that mean only people who live on sunlight and oxygen and live like one of the characters from Rust can criticise capitalism without being a hypocrit?
What about people like Adam Smith, who lived in a predominantly feudal society, does the fact that he wrote the definitive early study of market forces yet owed his livelihood to the feudal system mean that all classical economics can be dismissed too?

Well in the long run socialism will work because there is more potential in everyone getting an education than some dumbass rich fags like bush.
>>73937681
Do we have a choice not to buy capitalistic products? NO! We have to buy things in order to survive like food. So stop using that argument.

Hey pole bro, just curious what the software dev job market is like in Poland? I graduate next year and thinking of leaving the British Caliphate to somewhere white. Heard Estonia has a booming tech industry but would certainly consider Poland.

>And if they weren't protected by the government they'd lose their billions. Just look at what happened in 08, all those stupid banks should have failed, but nope because of our ever increasing socialist economy they were "TOO BIG TOO FAILLLLL!!!!"
Yes, George W Bush, Alan Greenspan, the entire republican party, wall street and the media are all socialists fighting to destroy capitalism.
Bailing out the banks is the 101 textbook capialist thing to do. States constantly bail out private businesses, and when the banking system goes under they're more than happy to engage in massive state intervention in order to preserve the capitalist system.
It just means that when they talk about the efficiencis brought by capitalism, about how the risk is an incentive etc, that you should recognise it as insincere horseshit, something that might apply to the mom & pop store but doesn't apply to the powerful vested interests who actually run the economy.
>>73937631
Capitalism is for what ever forces can dominate the spheres of power and do what ever they want, Socialism is for the domination of these powers and leading the nation for the well being and prosperity of the people, the well being of YOU is priority not the profit someone can produce.
>>73937808
You wouldn't have to buy food in a capitalist system, you could grow it yourself?
>>73937139
I think democracy is about the stupidest concept imaginable, so that doesn't do much for me.
The whole point of a well regulated business is that it's forbidden from causing harm to the general public. Aggression is prohibited, externalities are corrected. Obviously this requires a competent and effective government with a sophisticated legal framework, and the ways in which a large corporation can degrade society can be subtle, but so it goes in the world we live in. The point is that the citizen has no reason to justify demanding control if the business is doing nothing to harm him.
>>73937653
>No, you're a retard, for thinking that owning an iphone invalidates someones criticism of capitalism.
But they don't just own it. They depend on it. It makes up so much of their identity that they cannot even imagine their life without it. The iPhone is literally what Marcuse would have described as the ultimate false need. I maintain that no socialist would ever have an iPhone.

Do you even know what capitalism is? You invest into something and if it works out, you make money. If it doesn't work out then it's your ass that has to make up the difference or if you had a deal worked out with someone. You really don't know what it is do you?

You like them only when they're miserably unsuccessful, then call them thieving capitalists when they become massively successful.
The only time people like you are happy, truly happy, is when everyone is as miserable, and destitute as you are.
To you it's a crime when only a few can manage to succeed, so you push for a society in which nobody can succeed, so that we may all be equal while living in the muck together.

If you get stuck in a low paying industry or low qualified jobs, then yeah it's pretty shitty.
If you climb the ladder in IT sector or finance or whatever, you can live on par with western middle class no problem.
State funded education doesn't work, since it quality drops down significantly, because of lack of competition. I know, since we have it here.
>>73938072
>How? He writes software that replaces others jobs.
De-skilling and automation, primarily, with outsourcing as a secondary pressure. Introduce noob-friendly programming tools and languages which someone from India can use for 1/10th the wages my Polish friend here has. I've seen the early stages of this already. Certain professions (Lawyers, Accountants, Managers, Secretaries, Programmers etc etc) that most people would not associated with technological unemployment are going to get fucking hammered in the next few decades, just watch and see.
The de-skilling and obsolesence of white collar clerical work is currently outpacing the decline of blue collar work according to the 2014 study on the topic by McKinsey Global Insitute.
Of course, just like with the Luddites of all, new jobs will replace the old ones, only there's no promise that they'll be well paid, offer him any degree of autonomy, have any security and competition is likely to be fierce.

I'm not I'm just pointing out the ridiculous double standard and how the same people who would gladly bail out a bank to preseve confidence in financial capitalism would have no problem seeing an actually half-useful small business get destroyed, and would justify and defend that with the usual inane platitudes about capitalism and risk and incentive etc etc.
Face it, the state's job in a capitalist is to maintain the system, first priority, even if that means abandoning core principles that the little people, the suckers, the ideologues, have been told are sacred over and over again.

> The citizen can demand...
Yes, that's why our world is a world of locks, of walls, of handcuffs and prison cells, of patrolling police and of firearms. To keep that from happening.
I mean, people can 'demand' whatever they please, obviously. Those tools are all in place to keep those demands from meaning anything.

Well, if you want to develop sw for consumer market then there aren't really many companies that do that.
But there are shit ton of database managment jobs and the like. It's not hard to land a job, but the market is very competitive, student exploitation, death march crunches and all that shit, so if you are not used to that, it might be a little unpleasant. >Introduce noob-friendly programming tools and languages which someone from India can use for 1/10th the wages my Polish friend here has.
Literally already happened and still isn't really making an effect. Programming is already highly abstracted, you couldn't really make it any easier. And even if you did, who is going to write those tools? That's right, real developers.
Indians are shit tier devs. Companies that left to set up India are coming back in droves after realising this. Literally half my freelance work is fixing shit that an Indian attempted to make.
The fact is no matter how simplified the tools get it's always going to require a certain type of mind to program. Most Indians don't have it, and no matter how much they attempt to push learning it in school it's always going to be a tiny minority who actually take to it.
In fact, this upcoming generation is as technologically inept as boomers. They use vtech tier technology. At least we grew up having to use computers, forcing us to become technologically literate. Computer science in our country is studied less than it was a decade ago, despite increased demand and a larger overall student population. Seriously, it'll be a tech market crash to make us poor, it's certainly coming from dumbed down tools or saturation of talent.

Here's your answer: The job of the "state" in any type of economic, or government system is to, I kid you not, maintain the system. Because it would be a very bad idea to just force all government to remain static despite changes in socio-political environments over time.
However that does not mean that they should become Capitalist because a bunch of losers like you think it's unfair that someone is rich, and you are not.
There's your fucking answer, Commie.

Without constantly pumping money into the economy there would be a permanent depression. My Chief said the expansion of money is what keeps the economy afloat, too much and you get inflation, not enough and you get a slug. If we had the gold standard with our current productivity the economy would be trash.

>iterally already happened and still isn't really making an effect.
It's contributing to keeping wages down and currently in it's earliest possible stages.
You're like the lancashire mill worker who saw the first steam engine and thought "nah, it'll never catch on" trust me, give it time. Might not be instantly, might be a very gradual process, but it will happen.
The biggest overhead these companies have is paying their staff, cos their staff need to be skilled. Whichever company can de-skill and automate the quickest will have a competetive advantage and will end up dominating the marketplace. Thus, they will heavily invest in new technologies and systems in order to remove this dependency on skilled human labour. It works the same in any industry.
