Over the last several years we have documented with clockwork regularity Venezuela's collapse into failed state status, which was cemented several weeks ago when news hit that "Venezuela had officially run out of money to print new money." As we wrote then these are simply hungry Venezuelans protesting that their children are dying from lack of food and medicine and that they do not have enough water or electricity. As AgainstCronyCapitalism added, this is a country with more oil than Saudi Arabia, and the government has stolen all the money and now they bottleneck peaceful protesters and threaten them with bombs (or haul them to prison and torture them).

Venezuela is a food growing country and had to recently important flower for baking because nothing is producing in that land I mentioned. Inflation begins. A few other things I can't remember.
Everything becomes expensive. They ran out of toilet paper a while back. My uncle who owns a business can't leave the country because the bank there has frozen assets. Not that there's anyone buying anyway.

They used to own one of the largest tractor companies in the world and now their company doesn't exist. Their oil reserves are mostly tar sand which are financially unfeasible to extract and refine below a certain price ($70/bbl iirc, I may be wrong). It's nothing like Saudi oil.
