But can we talk about how practically every other thread on /b/ is utter degeneracy?
As the one true random board, /b/ has an important role here on 4chan. But what do we see over there?
Furfag threads, trap threads, blacked threads, cuck threads....etc. You can hardly even scroll through the main page without being confronted with man-ass
This is a far cry from what /b/ used to be, it's actually sad. Especially because /b/ is the most well known, well advertised board on 4chan.
I'm a relative newfag, I've been here for about a year or so. Before I knew what 4chan even was, I always heard epic legendary tales about /b/ and the glory days when the memes ran like water.
Why did this happen?
There are a variety of well funded groups out there that are tasked with manipulating public perceptions online. Paid shilling is a very real phenomenon, on 4chan, on reddit, and on many other forums as well. Many of these organizations are pushing the LGBT agenda in order to move public perceptions in what they consider to be a progressive direction. By saturating forums with trap porn, they hope to soften public attitudes towards transsexuals. I believe this is what's behind the degeneration of /b/.

It's been a sad place for a long time.
What really killed it was the newfag hipsters that treated /b/ like a social media outlet.
That and chanology.
The moment /b/ became popular because of hipsters thinking they're cool was the moment it died.
Now it's flooded with tranny porn and edgy teenagers. The worst kind of cancer.
/b/ was never good, and the stupidity of the average /b/tard has generally been thought of as unacceptable throughout most of the history of 4chan.
/b/ in 2006 is a lot like what most of the other boards are like now: mostly full of shit with a few good threads.
What you're experiencing on /pol/ right now is as close as we will ever get to what /b/ was like back in the mid 2000s.
My recommendation to you: enjoy it while it lasts and stop worrying about /b/
