Oil was just the last industry that remained sort-of profitable after the socialist destruction of the ENTIRE economy. Then that collapsed, too. And they totally wasted a decade of insanely high oil prices because extracting it also required investment and expertise.
For example, Bernie's current plan would add $18 Trillions on top of the current budget deficit. You've already destroyed the financial sector and taxed the shit out of everybody, where do you go for this kind of money? This is how it starts.
