I don't see anything wrong with hunting or using fur or leather products. Whether animals are farmed or hunted, we farm our meat why not farm for leather or fur also? It's not pretty but oh well. It's better than synthetic crap.
But yes I think protecting the natural environment is important, but I think people take too big of an extreme. We can still have a string industry while making sure we protect our natural environment

All the problems with animal farming (food wasteage, unless it's purely grass fed animals which is not applicable to mass production, water pollution, overuse of antibiotics) plus you have to use extremely cancerogenous chemicals to turn skin into leather, so it won't degrade like dead skin would. As leather won't degrade you have the same disposal problems as for non-functionalized plastic.
