Am I the only one who thinks that the left/right division is stupid and doesn't make any sense?

Libertarians are considered far right, but policy which are considered the center of their ideologies seem more strictly liberal. People on the far left have even more strictly controlled ideologies than those that are considered conservative!

Would north south east west make more sense, or is the whole concept of mapping out ideologies like that stupid?

To my understanding, liberatarian ideology runs counter to the concept of authoritarianism which conservatism as a whole is rooted in, yet because they end up supporting many of the ideas the radical conservatives do, i.e. free market capitalism and gun rights out the butt, they end up being looped in with the right in the american political system

how accurate is this? I genuinely don't know

I don't see how conservatism is authoritarian, their whole platform is based on telling the gov. to fuck off and let them live their lives.
