As an American, one of the hardest parts of being red-pilled is the mystique and patriotism you're supposed to feel about WWII and the post-war era is gone.
So much of American identity is built into the good-guys-versus-bad-guys story of WWII, how we saved the world, liberated Europe, how we had the greatest generation and became the wonder of the world.
Then you start to see the propaganda. Britain and France were the ones who instigated the war. The people of all the Allied nations opposed the wars, before the rallying of (((corporate interests))) in all countries. Poland slaughtered Germans, and when Germany and the USSR invaded, Britain and France used it as a rationale for declaring war (not on the USSR of course). Even if you take the Holocaust seriously, the USSR had already massacred more than Hitler could ever dream of, and Germany hadn't done anything.
Then, our own great leader of the time, who we were taught was one who defied partisan lines and united the country, was a loathful aristocrat and a communist who finally put the last nail in the coffin of constitutional government. Aside from the mass-imprisonment of citizens without trial, the forcible centralization or burning of crops and cartelization of industry, he intentionally provoked an attack from Japan and intentionally ignored warnings before hand so more would die.
But what do you do?
What do you do when you know how communists sat around divided independent people at the Conference of Malta? What was so great and heroic about our fight for world communism? Nothing.
Everything I'm supposed to feel patriotic about isn't empty. I wish it was. It was purposefully against my interest. What defines "patriotism" for a normal American, or a normal Westerner is overt hatred of yourself and your past...
Anyway, that's what I think of when I see Normal Rockwell paintings nowadays.

I think the biggest problem with a lot of abstract and cubist art is that it often requires background on the subject. That tends to detract from the pure aesthetic component of most other art, even if it elaborates on that subject very well.
