his profundities were hit or miss. when i listened to LP's of him in the 70's i was young enough to think he was funny.
There was a time when you might have heard something interesting listening to Carlin but the ideas he expressed have filtered out enough and been restated or independently arrived at by lots of other people. He was pretty liberal, people don't think of him that way because he swore a lot and said mean shit, but he was. I still like Carlin alright but I probably have some nostalgia influence.
