The protagonist is an angry and crazy hypocrite, he is a bad guy. He is a better main character than a lot of ones in other games once you make that realization. The problem is that many people themselves are hypocrites themselves so they can't make the realization that he is actually a bad guy. Even in the DLC when you play as the other guy, they mention that Aiden is crazy
