People are divided when it comes to Japan. Some people are okay with them now. Others hate them to death. Japan helps out a lot of countries in SEA with infrastructure and even scholarships for SEA students to study in Japan which is seen as good-will. SK is gradually getting more popular through music and movies but on a political level, I would say most people are neutral towards them. Taiwanese hate mainland Chinese. HK hates mainland Chinese. Singaporeans hate mainland Chinese, even though a lot of them are ethnic Chinese. SEA countries are isolationist and just want to be kept alone but China likes to exploit them. The islamic Asian countries are seen as "other Asians". The Asian countries tolerate their existence but they would prefer they weren't Muslim.
I don't think we hate each other. I think its kind of like the Balkans pre-WWI but we can tolerate each others existence.

I grew up with a Filipino maid as a kid.
What I learnt about how the Asians view one another is very race based it seemed. Our maid said she liked Malaysians because "they have the same nose" as Filppinos (which came as a surprise to me because Malays are Muslim, and she was a strong believer and Catholic). She did not seem to dislike any of the other SEA countries even when I asked. But she seemed to dislike the Chinese and European foreigners doing business in Filippines. But most of all she hated the corruption there and Saudis, because she was abused by the latter (probably literally raped as well) and made less than 50 pounds a month. And when she went to sleep, they locked the door to her room from the outside.

Okinawa is where the big US base is. The island is practically cut in half by it. Making development and travel difficult.
Furthermore the US have immunity for their personnel that work on the base. So whenever some of them get drunk after a night out and get in a fight or worse yet, rape some woman.
