What went wrong, /pol/?

How would the world look like if the operation had succeeded?
>>
>>73708031
it literally couldn't
>>
>>73708031
Better
>>

>What went wrong, /pol/?
Soviet Union was too big for German military doctrine and when they had to fight conventional front-to-front warfare they were bound to lose due to Soviet logistical capabilities which were far superior.

>How would the world look like if the operation had succeeded?
it couldn't have succeeded.
>>
Hitler was doing a good job until he tried to one man the world. Going into the USSR was his biggest mistake especially when Stalin and him could have been bros
>>
>>73708031
Didn't finish off Brits/Britain didn't join there German cousins and instead served rothschilds interests.
>>
>What went wrong, /pol/?
Axis considerd Britain defeated despite it wasn't.
Also the german goverment overrated the mobility of the German army in places without some form infrastructure

holy shit youre ignorant. russia was the only plan, and the plan all along. why the fuck would he befriend stalin???? fucking amerifat kill yourself
>>
>>73708533

Hitler was a terrible leader and acted on principle rather than logic, completely ignoring everything his generals knew about war.
>>
>>73708595

It's been analysed to death.

Operation Sealion was just as impossible
>>
>>73708533
Dude russia would have invaded the germans if they had the oportunity, in fact they were being supported and even there is a discussion between hitler and a finnish politician where hitler shows his suriprise how the russians were being armed by the west. Hitler did good attacking first, his army was prepared for attack not for the defense.
>>
>>73708031
should have started in april instead
>>
>>73708930

He had Rommel killed because he had a spine

Considered a military genius and Hitler just discarded him
>>

Nice meme.
>>
>How would the world look
Isn't that in the novel, The Man in the High Castle?

It looked okay, but bleak and efficient
>>
>>73709212
Not really.

USSR was dabbling with joining the Tripartite Pact. The bone of contention was Finland and the Balkans, notably Yugoslavia and Bulgaria.

Germany wanted to give USSR Iran, India and the like, whereas USSR wanted control over Finland, Bulgaria and Yugoslavia and concessions from Greece and Turkey.

Can you fags into history?
>>
The Finnish divisions stopped after taking back their traditional territory from the Russians.

Had they kept pushing forward, it might have prevented a chain of events from happening that eventually led to the encirclement of German/Romanian forces at the Battle of Moscow.

They were little faggots that didn't fully commit to the invasion, had they the world might be a different place, a better place.

It's a meme spread during Cold War by Victor Rezun, a paid British shill. You fell for it, congratulations.
>>
>>73708939
Yeah I know, they could have tried to crush them at Dunkirk instead of listening to Goring. Other than that it would have been an extremely tough fight but there is no way an invasion of Russia would ever work while still having Britain in the war and having to use a portion of their army in N. Africa and Italy and as reserves in the west.
Even if it was only 1 front with Russia it would've been difficult but they would've been in a much better position.
>>
>what went wrong /pol/?

The panzers in army group center split in half and went south to help capture kiev which left the rest of army group center to be slaughtered by the soviet unions full might including the new T 34s which were far better than the panz 3s the germans had at the time

They thought that the Soviet Union cared about its populace and wouldn't throw them away endlessly where they'd take even more loses in Kursk than the Germans did despite having months of time to prepare and laying down minefields and prepositioning forces to cut off the Krauts.
>>
>>73709490
No he didn't, he might have had knowledge of it but we was not a big part of the plan
>>
>>73709173
Rommel wasn't really that great. He was good, but he couldn't hold a candle to men like Guderian.

Once hitler invaded, the russians began bombing his oil industry in romania from the crimea. The nazis did not anticipate this. They had to occupy the crimea, which they didn't plan on doing, and the bombings disrupted the oil and lubrication flow to his armies. Just one of many miscalculations of hitler.
>>
>>73710005
Huh? I thought the oil fields were right at the start of the plan, Hitler was afraid of them bombing romanian fields but I don't believe that actually happened.
>>
>>73709959
Eh.. Zhukov still clung to a lot of antiquated Soviet doctrinal concepts from before the war. His greatest successes came near the end of the war when he realized that using obscene amounts of artillery was a good idea. Personally think that Vasilevsky and Konev get far too little credit for their roles where Zhukov got all the glory because he was more politically connected. Zhukov also pretty much formalized the 'no independent initiative for anyone below the rank of mayor' that became a part of Soviet doctrine until the collapse which generally hasn't been that successful for other militaries that copied it.
>>
>>73709338
national socialism was anti communist in it's principles
>>
>>73708031

If everything goes right they get stuck in perpetual warfare in the Urals until Germany collapses after Hitler gets BTFO which was inevitable

Then slavs proceed to do ethnic cleansing even more than OTL post-WW2

As in Western Europe the cities are closed together and it is easier to find supplies and stablish outposts, in Eastern Europe there are far more empty spaces. Look at the wide spaces here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cuR1MvZ1r6E

Japan attacked the USA instead of hitting Russias east coast which could have cut off all supply lines and forced a split in the Soviet hordes
>>
>>73708533
Hitler saw the Soviets as tools of the Jews and in Mein Kampf he literally writes that Russia has to be conquered for the Germans.

Hitler was one of the most inept military commanders in all of history.

The Germans lost because of winter and the Soviets throwing all their peasants at them.
>>
What went wrong?

Needed to wait for Italy. If they waited one more year, they they would've been ready
>>
>>73709432
Don't blame the finnish, they barely kept the Soviets at bay and even that was a massive accomplishment for how outnumbered and outgunned they were. Finland did nothing wrong by defending themselves first and foremost.
>>
>>73715037
It was all Japan's fault. Should not have raped Nanking and focused on the Soviets instead.

A stand up fight between the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany and Germany would have been steamrolled them without mercy.

But the eternal anglo fucked it up.

Italy never fielded a fighting force worth a damn. I mean Greece fucked them up. Greece. GREECE!

the UK was just to superior for Germany to handle, they were nothing but puny ants compared to the mighty British empire

The first battle of Kiev was no mistake. Historians like to criticize every action hitter made. If army group center continued to Moscow they would have to peel of large numbers of troops to defend their southern flank. 100000 soviet troops would have been in the position to encircle any force attacking Moscow. Sound like Stalingrad? Disregard of your flanks invited encirclement. Hitler made the sound military decision to eliminate the keiv army first.
>>
>>73716588
It was because Italy was not ready for full scale war. Their economy was mostly agriculture, right? I think if I remember reading, if they waited like 2 years or so instead of fighting right away, they would've been a lot more successful. I might be wrong though

I'm no great tactician or commander, but would it have been possible for the army to pin the Kiev army instead of going after it aggressively while the center army continued her push into moscow?
