Unfortunately, he's heading a party that's about to be blasted out of existence because people no longer want the three-legged stool of conservatism. The right of politics is now being taken over by butthurt faggots (namely the alt-right of /pol/), which roughly means moaning assholes who like scapegoating minorities for the failures of permavirgins. No. Unlike literally every other Republican (and trump of course), he actually has a functioning brain.
He's the only Republican who has tried to do something beyond telling liberals and democrats to go fuck themselves. He's actually come up with ideas to improve the lives of Americans (minorities included), that doesn't increase federal spending and actually brings down the federal debt.

Ryan is a plausible politician. I just feel he's pinned his flag to the mast of a sinking ship. The Republicans have dabbled with negative populism and now that's what their party official is. It remains to be seen if the party will recover from this. I doubt it. It creates the likelihood of a move significantly to the left for the next couple of elections.
I'm not even American -- just curious about what shape the world is likely to take in the coming years. The interests of young people will eventually predominate and they're currently deeply fed up with the current political system, especially around questions of inequity and fucked opportunities for younger people.
