>There is a large portion of the US population that cannot run a mile (1600km), even at a light jog, without stopping. Some cannot complete a mile at all.

Now, I'll admit, I was a track and cross country runner in school and was decent, so my views may be a bit skewed, but c'mon, a mile is nothing.

How do we fix this?
>>
>>73531187

It only takes a few weeks of physical priming to jog a mile, even if you're fat and sedentary (barring the morbidly obese)

t. mentally ill neet working on self improving that can now run 2 miles without stopping
>>

I can't do that either.
>>

Ooops, I meant m, not km.
>>
>>73531187
I'm pretty sure I can't run 1600km.
The last time I went running I think I did about 7km (3.5km, small break then 3.5km back).
It shouldn't be hard for anyone who isn't overweight.
>>
>>73531592
Yeah, I meant meters, not kilometers.

Running blows.

>Tfw used to run 13 minute 2 miles but now I'm down to 14:40s
>>
>>73531187
I am a stocky person not built for running at all. I am short, fat, and strong.

When I joined the Army I had a hard time running. I still have a hard time running. My two-mile run time is 14:30. No clue what my mile time is, I don't run a single mile.

The reason why these people can't run a mile isn't because they're fat. A mile, or even two, is not a large enough distance to keep a fat person from running it. You're putting the cart before the horse.

The reason they're fat is because they don't run. Not the other way around.

After 5 years of heavy smoking and literally no exercise I started training. Im on week 3 or 4 of interval jogging everyday I still get tired after about 2 and a half min of jogging at a 7m per hour pace.

I started couch to 5k but am stuck on week 2 type of training. Any advice?
>>
>>73532474
JUST
DO IT
>>
>>73532474
By tired i mean need a 1 min brisk walking break the back to jog and so on. usually do about 3 miles by the end
>>
>>73532474
You may want to start biking at first. Do you have a bike?

It'll do a bit better job at easing you into using your lungs and heart the way you would when you run.

It'll save on your knees and joints a bit too, at least until you feel like you run more consistently.
>>
>>73532474

>week 2

The 90 sec intervals?

I'm on week 6, just stick with it. Take a repeat week if absolutely needed. You'll be amazed by how stark your improvement is in such a short amount of time. It isn't so much about strength gain as reformatting and physiological adaption. A couple weeks ago I found a 5 min jog hard. Now a 20 min jog is only a moderate challenge

Oh, and also be careful about hydration and carbs. Don't start on a full stomach and make sure you've had a good dose of carbs a few hours before the workout (and breakfast, of course)

Hydrate well an hour before, don't start full of water and needing a piss

run everyday, atleast 2 miles if you can.
Do some longer runs every now and then, like 8 miles or so for muscle building.
Also before racing, try some of those vitamin drink energy supplement things, they can help you feel really energetic
>>
>>73532474
If really tired or feeling pain just never stop.
At first your body must get used to exercise, then it will be easier.
So you can't stop.
If you really have to rest and screw training then rest marching.
Also warming up and cooling down is important like hell. Without good warm up you can find a wall fast

YOU FORGOT ABOUT FORREST MOTHERFUCKING GUMP NIGGA! HE NEVER STOPPED RUNNING!!!
>>
I'm a boxer, but when I first started, I couldn't even 1/4th of a mile without stopping.

To git good, just go running for 15 minutes. Stop when you need to and start running again when you can. Do this every day and eventually you can run the whole 15 minutes without stopping. Eventually you can bump it up to 20 minutes, 30 minutes, and even an hour. If you don't do cardio and just sit at a desk for 8 hours a day, you fuck up your heart and will have major problems in your 40s and older. That's what made me start getting in shape
>>
>>73531420

>How do we fix this?

You can't without upsetting too many people.
Fat acceptance still exists so enforcing proper Physical Ed in schools mandating students pass the 1 mile run to pass won't pass yet. Nor will forcing private businesses keep their workers in shape.
People are just getting lazier as technology advances, even losing the automobile people will pay for cyclist taxis to ferry them around.
We would need outrageous extreme environments to force people to stay in shape or die, like releasing genetically enhanced stray dogs designed to chase people and be immune to bullets, or submerging cities and suburbs in 5 feet of water forcing people to swim to get anywhere and only allow boating for children too young to learn swimming yet and emergency services.

Have you read the manga? She's a side character, but she's also duty bound, courageous, and loyal to her friends/fellow soldiers, as well as being a colossal smartass and snarky as hell. Also "side character" means nothing in SnK. Bert and Reiner were side characters until chapter 50 and now they're main characters. Isayama is hinting strongly at giving Hitch some pretty large character development due to recent events in the story as well.

Check an orthopedic or sports specialist and get a sunrise x ray on your knee to see if your outer quad is overpowering your inner quad and pulling the knee cap to the right creating the joint pain. It's very common in runners.

If that is the case, before you do any serious rehab like atg squats and such, place your back against the wall and do a quarter squat and hold that position for as long as you can.>>73538185

>>73541546
>only

Stop being a modest faggot, and just assert that you're better than most. Jesus. That was your intention anyway.
>>
>>73531187
>a mile (1600km)
why don't you guys switch over already
and while you're at it fix your numbers and dates too
>>
>>73542233
If you can't or don't want to defend your women, your workout regimen is just worthless shit.
>>
>>73542156
Running is not bad, as long as you do it correctly and with shoes that fit you well. Saying that running is "horrible" for your legs is a bit of a stretch don't you think?

But in the guy who you replied's case, it'd probably be best for him to hit the treads for a while to run in his legs a bit.
>>
>>73541096
Last time I checked it was still here, although trappy-fag is ruining the whole place. I didn´t think that a single trim could do so much damage in this day and age
>>
>>73542626
No, it's legitimately worthless. The only reason people in the past had to be run was predators. Now that we're on top of the food chain, it's just retarded. If you need cardio, use a fucking gym machine, you mouth breathers.
>>
>>73531187
I know I can't do that despite being 6'2' and 170.

I fucking hate running/jogging. Maybe I just have shit technique but I hate the feeling of it. I'd much rather do the equivalent amount of work walking/biking/skating.
>>
>>73534908
>he can only bench press 2x his body weight
You're either fat as fuck or dyel as fuck. top shiggy
>>
>>73542830
>being 6'2' and 170.
Do you have any muscles, at all? Jesus Christ.
>>
Is there any significant difference between running on asphalt or grass?
>>
>>73542950
They're both terrible for your body. Just run on a fucking treadmill.
>>
>>73542626
I use a treadmill
Running outside blows
Running blows but heart strong and body fit!
I run also to ready my body for any civil disruption.
All about the sneakers
>>
>>73542799
Yeah but why not both brother?

Going for a jog in a forest feels absolutely amazing. Not saying it should be a complete substitute. I see your point.
>>
>>73531187
>>There is a large portion of the US population that cannot run a mile (1600km), even at a light jog, without stopping. Some cannot complete a mile at all.
Is this really that shocking. I mean obviously Grandma isn't going to be running a mile. The real problem are young people that aren't active. It's not that they can't, they just choose not too.

HAHAHAHAHAH

Anyone can run 1 mile but, how many people here can SWIM 1 MILE.

I know the answer to to that, only me, because everyone else besides me on this board is a cock-loving nigger running faggot that can't swim just like a nigger
>>
>>73543099
This is true but around here when leaves fall it is dangerous
Many twisted ankles
>>
>>73543188
Ahahahah funny and swimming is ultimate exercise
>>
>>73543099
It 'feels good' but it's just putting unnecessary strain on your ankles. Just run on a treadmill if you want to lose flab. It's that fucking simple.
>>
>>73543168

I feel sorry for any carrion eaters feeding off our McAsses. Poor bird is going to fly with the runs for weeks and probably grow bird boobs from the injected hormones.
>>
>>73543257
Is true

Also don't eat shit food Jesus christ you fat, pants shitting fucks
>>
>>73542925
Not really. I've worked as a mover for the past 3 years too.
>>
>>73531187
>some people can't run a mile
>how do we fix this terrible epidemic omg

Why do you care about something so insignificant? I could probably jog a mile if necessary but I'm pretty sure that need will never arise again outside of gym class.
>>
>>73537449
Dear God, yes. Are you morbidly obese or something like that?
>>
>>73543409
Calm down, friend. This pants shitting BS is some SA crap.

Essentially, eat as you would normally, and just hit the cardio machines and weight benches. It's that easy.
>>
>>73543439
I'm sorry.
>>
>>73531187
This nigger has an interesting physique, big shoulders arms and traps but his stomach and chest looks like blighted (simliar to the one that the old women drew) version of michelangelos picture of god.
>>
>>73543409
Fat acceptance is way too high in the US. Really not good to have trash food be a cornerstone of your culture.
>>
>>73542314
2 miles is kind of pathetic for someone that exercises regularly. It's ok for normies that don't, working out is just my hobby.
>>
>>73543637
Cuck incarnate.
>>
>>73543713
I, too, after doing regular running could do 2-3 miles easily. That's just the standard. Why would you even brag about being average?
>>
>>73543637
Also...

>dem hips
>>
>not running 10 miles a day
>>
>>73543538
The main reason I work out is cus it feels great and makes a happier person.

But another reason I do it, is so that if ever some accident happens, I could trust in my own physique.

Imagine if someone died, because you lacked the strength/dexterity to save that person. Stuff like that is a nightmare for me.
>>
>>73531187
I am 300 pounds and I can light jog a mile AND I can eat my cheeseburgers, what now trackfag?
>>
>>73544139
We're not all Olympians, you shitposting faggot.
>>
In todays society running more than a mile is degenerate.
We have bikes and cars for dostance travel, and to run away from someone attacking you ypy would focus on speed not distance.

Ancient humans ran far to track food, but now we have to adapt to our new world.

Im not saying be fat, just be healthy and exercise what's important.
>>
>>73544261
On mobile so my typing is shit. Sorry lads
>>
>>73544145
The reason you do it is because you're a weak human being. If you can't impose your mind on the world, the least you can do is be physical elite.

>>
>>73544368
You can still ride bikes or swim for your cardio :)
>>
>>73544145
I didn't mean to say working out is a bad thing by any means, I just don't see a problem with someone that has no interest in working out as long as they aren't a fat fuck. There are probably thousands of things I'd personally rather be doing and find more constructive overall than lifting weights or doing cardio.

OP's post would be no different than if I were to say "there is a large portion of the US population that cannot solve differential equations what do we do about this". Not everyone needs to be good at everything.
>>
>>73544613
What's there to elaborate on?

Unless you die as an infant, you will at some point have to run.
>>
>>73531187
Tried to pick up running again in the winter but my knees just couldn't handle it. Back to cycling
>>
>>73531953
if you cant jog a mile without stopping I am severly disappointed in you
>>
So?

That's what we have scooters and cars for faggots.
>>
>>73531187
I didn't run all winter. Just lifted weights and sat around. Ran a mile twice last week. Wasn't fun but was pretty easy, just ignore the pain once it starts for about 2-3 minutes and your golden. Ran a third mile this weekended and it already felt pretty easy.
>6-7 minute miles. Not really fast, not slow
>>
>>73535638
That's a seriously good time, good job. Back when i was in school my 5ks were ~20mins. I couldn't run FAST, but I could run all day
>>73539221
For this summer I just plan on getting to the mile and a half track out near where I work. And being able to go without stopping. I'm now 70 over where I was in high school
>>
>>73531187
I run at least 3 a day, but I must admit it's not necessary for anyone to do. Your thread is shit and your a faggot OP
