Jobs aren't guaranteed, buddy, and you have a much easier time now than I had several years ago. Lots of competition right now, so you either have to be the lowest bidder or give the best pitch to win the job. Whatever you do, though, don't fall for any of the unpaid internship crap. Your labor is valuable.
>>
>electrical engineering

Who the fuck recommended that? Just get a CS degree with Cisco certifications, do nothing most days, and collect your 120k a year until you decide to move up to management where you collect your 250k a year and do absolutely nothing of value.

Then retire at 60, a fucking millionaire, and laugh at your friend in humanities who got stabbed by a mentally unstable Somalian when he was 34.

Main thing is to not limit yourself strictly to jobs directly related to your major. I ended up getting a job as a technician, maybe technically "underemployed" but enjoy the work and pay is plenty good for a low cost of living state.

Also stick with the job hunt it can be shit but there are people out there looking for your experience and qualifications, hard part is just finding them. Don't get discouraged.

Yeah, I've seen the numbers for the US market and EE is expected to have a 0% growth rate, if not even a shrinkage. This combined with my intuiton has also made me switch from pure EE to engineering management/EE. If nothing changes radically, the trend of outsourcing most jobs will only grow. My faculty is filled to the brim with indians, pakis, chinese, flips etc. and they all become EE. Understandably, with things like CAD becoming more important, the real part of engineering - manufacturing, designing etc. - become grunt work. Intelligent whites can only excell through higher business I think. If we are to become great, we must turn into burgeoise aristocrats.

Ironic considering the European black market for firearms is greater than ever. But the sheeple Euro normies won't even think about getting one until it's too late, pretty sure the first thing the state does when SHTF is that they go around taking the registered firearms away. We're inching a catastrophe of some kind, I don't know if it's a conventional war between the great states or a civil war type of crisis popping up around in Europe but it's coming.

I graduated in CE. Worked 2 internships. When my last internship ended (3 months after I graduated) I had 5 companies fighting to hire me... I wound up being forced to pick the most prestigious firm in my industry with Benefits that make Microsoft look like a fly-by-night gig and pay well out of the stratosphere of my peers... It fucking sucked.

I've been working this position for about 9 months now, already received a raise and I've been working from home 3 days out of the week.. and I accrue 10 hours PTO every month.. At this rate I can take an entire month off and get paid.

And the fucking worst part, when I work with clients they're constantly trying to offer me better jobs with higher pay and better benefit packages.. It just doesn't stop.. I can't even sign in to LinkedIn anymore because I have these fucking scoundrels constantly trying to recruit me for projects.

To be fair, the STEM job market is becoming oversaturated because so many people are falling for le STEM master race meme. There's nothing wrong with getting an education in design or liberal arts rather than LE STEM as long as it's something practical and not "Masters in Diverse Transnigger Studies". Plenty of people I went to high school with went into liberal arts and then went on to law school after that.

Plenty of people went into STEM but forgot the most important part.. you have to be good at it.

>STEM meme

Does this refer to people who pick a major, go to class, and do fuck all to actually find employment? I figured if you pick something STEM-related and actually build relationships with professors and are proactive in looking for internships, employment shouldn't be too rough. MY sister was a Chem major in undergrad and now she's in a PhD program doing cancer research (not 100% on what she's getting her degree in at the moment, something related to medical research). To be fair, though, the networking piece is true for most majors. Don't rule out grad school, either, since a pretty sizeable chunk of undergraduate majors are nothing more than glorified stepping stones at this point.

I can't speak from experiencethough as I wasn't a STEM major. I was a Psychology major and ended up getting my Masters in Counseling and went on to get licensed as a Mental Health Counselor in my state. I finished school in December 2014 and haven't had any issues getting work to support myself financially and live well. If I could do this in a field as over saturated and packed as Psychology, STEM shouldn't be too hard unless the whole "Chang and Pajeet taking all the jerbs" meme is real.

A lot of STEM majors on this site have no work experience or internships when they graduate due to the amount of autism this site generates.

Reason why there's a lot of trade shilling on /pol/ is because apprenticeships give you a good amount of work experience which makes it really easy to find a job.

Military non combat trades are good too if you're not American. Starting pay for military trades here is 50k a year even if you're just starting out which is increased to spec pay once you get your journeyman status.

Maybe shit's fucked in the US, but here in the UK the engineering sector's a good enough one to go into that some quite big companies are not only accepting of people who graduate with a 2:2, but opently advertise it (Because sometimes applying, even if they usually only hire 2:1s, might still get you lucky if they're impressed by other shit on your CV).

Look into factory work in the office department. When I was 20 we had a lot of people with a BA in Liberal Arts/English making a decent wage ( 22/hr plus full benefits) working in the office drafting up papers and stuff.

When people think factory work, they think Mexicans working for 9 dollars an hour but third party manufacturing plants pay really well.

Shit, even the labor work isn't bad if you're looking to save up for going back to school. Maybe it's because I went to an "elite" school (Jew-approved), but I know lots of guys who made 80k out of college or more. Some went into consulting, some went into banking, others were engineering... I knew one very annoying French major who went into investment banking for some reason. Kid had a 3.0 GPA and was as dumb as bricks. Must've had some familial connection...

Law school is really only a bad choice in the states if you're not committed or you go to some random poorly ranked school. The top 30ish schools feed into good law firms. The top 10 feed into "Big Law." Then you have schools that are good regionally (University of Richmond and George Washington U. come to mind), which are fine if you want to work in those areas. BTW, the number of law school applicants has actually being going down for the first time in decades.

1. Think of a project
2. Order parts

4. Do stuff

I should also say that law school is DIFFICULT. The work load is immense, especially at top ten schools. There are kids who were good at just getting by as undergraduates who can't hack it in law school and drop out. There are also lots of people who don't really have any direction in life and figure "hey, lawyers make lots of money, I like money and sports cars. I'll go to law school!" They don't realize what they're getting into and wind up dropping out.

Pro-tip: This may be a coincidence, but I only started getting offers after I stopped showing up to interviews in a suit. Slacks, dress shirt, and tie are more than enough, at least for entry level.
>>
>>73414650
It's not about the STEM meme. There are no jobs in California. You need a Masters for entry level. 3.4 GPA is also pretty unacceptable. You're expected to graduated with a 3.8 at least if you want a chance at a job.

>>73415814
Yes but only after you make it past the first year or so of climbing up. Entry level is still extremely difficult to get. I have a Bachelors degree and CCNP and I can tell you that without experience, even someone of that background should consider themselves blessed for even landing a $15/hour technician job.
>>
>>73428233
I've interviewed hundreds as part of my STEM career. We never hire anybody who isn't in a suit, even if its an entry level Network 1 position.

You need to be elite to get a job, even at an elite school like Berkeley.

Well, my IQ is something like 138, but I get your point. The thing is, I thought only a diploma would give me a job, but reality hit me really hard.

I'm about to get my degree in Computer Science

Probably going to just get a job in IT so I can focus on making video games in my spare time. IF, a big if, I'm successful in games I will open my own studio. Until then its just whatever. I don't need to be well off.

them poo in loos can't code for shit. If they get brought on they immediately get replaced with people to fix their work. That is, if the employer cares.

Are poo in loos taking your job where you work?

Ive become really worried about falling into the wrong major and ending up with no job opportunities. I heard that Aerospace Engineering is growing faster than a lot of other STEM fields, anyone have info on that? Im a High School senior about to start college but I have time to change my major as long as it stays within Engineering. I looked online and actually found a lot of well-payed entry level Aerospace jobs so that impresses me.

Would it be better to get a BBA with a concentration in Finance or major in Accounting?

Oh also do any Aero-anons know if a major in ME with a minor in Aero would be qualifications enought for an Aerospace position?

>not doing an internship into a job in college or building a portfolio
That's what you get for believing the jewish lie that a piece of paper has value.

>Sit on 10% profit from investments
At least make your story plausible, senpai

Why not making programs that are so good you can't be ignored? Only mediocre people rely on "networking".

I majored in ME and did my Masters in AE and I'm working in the defense industry designing missiles. You don't even need the AE minor, although it wouldn't hurt. ME and AE are incredibly similar. You do NOT need an AE degree to get into the industry. Aerospace relies on all sorts of dicsiplines which is why mechanical engineering (which covers a very wide breadth of material) is so well suited to the industry. Of course aerospace is much more than your college major... Just about any STEM major should be able to get into the aerospace industry.

lolno

Though, this number doesn't take into account the old guys that are retiring. Still, you better be good if you want a job.

It can pay well, but tends to be fast-paced, stressful, and the job security is low. My branch has probably let go half of its engineers over the past two years

Manufacturing is going to be the bulk of aerospace work for the next decade, so focus on hands-on skills more than autism skills.

Yes, an ME degree is fine (that's what I did) and an aerospace minor and related extracurriculars and internships will help

Right now in Alberta it's fucking ridiculous.

Hundreds to thousands of applicants for damn near any job. Everyone's overqualified too, so you got construction companies demanding you have a half dozen different safety courses that they didn't require only a few years ago, just to filter down the list of applicants. Companies that uses to employ hundreds of people downsizing to sub-100, or shutting down altogether.

Is electrical engineering really that bad? Thinking about going to community college then going to state college.
