There are admirable aspects of the soviet union, particularly how they inspired unity through their propaganda, it got to a point where their propaganda was almost indistinguishable aesthetically from nazi propaganda. It made their people proud to at least be a part of a powerful state (even if it was built on corruption and theft), they inspired striking iconography, it has unavoidably become a part of Russian culture to this day.
