Israel is trying to get Arab nations to fight with each other ("the more they fight each other, the less they fight us")
If Israel wasn't there, maybe Arab countries would unite, instead of fighting each other, meaning less refugees to Europe
Israel can easily fight each of the Arab nations individually, but if all Arab nations united (I mean truly united, not some shaky coalition), and formed a single pan-Arab state, it would surround Israel, and really threaten them

Both those wars were arabs being greedy and fucking around, then actually uniting and fighting with complete coordination and strategy
Heck, before they even captured Jerusalem, the republics and monarchs weren't even in agreement with who should control Palestine after it's taken
Jordan wanted to absorb it into their kingdom (supported by Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Iraq etc)
Syria wanted to make it part of a greater Syria (supported by Egypt)
