It is the end point. Economic 'heat death' so to speak - Everything spreads out to its logical end point and nothing really changes monetarily.
Personally I think basing your "end point" of anything like what Marx wanted is stupid, Communism only really works if you embrace the Hegelian kernal, as Althussar put it, and say that we are building a "world spirit", becoming God in our signal-minded homogeny.
A better idea would be to aim at maximising happiness, of course, but everyone is quite taken with marxism so we're stuck with it - economics over morals, the Left's first mistake.

People would clock in a certain amount of time as labourers and be free to pursue their own interests in their free time. Currency would be eliminated since everyone had what they needed. Well, if that's where utility leads that's where it leads. If you believe happiness is the absolute Good, as I do, I can't argue against the "total view" as they call it.
Personally I think there's much more to life than drugs, porn and media, like art, philosophy and the sciences which are legitmately enjoyable pursuits. But aside from that the by-products of those pursuits enable human beings to get better drugs, be more efficient producers. One day I hope humanity live in something akin to the matrix with caretaker robots spreading happiness across the galaxy on our behalf.
