It's called socialism in Europe. I also work for a private hospital. Maybe consider finding a way to immigrate to The United States and live in the southeast because the cost of living is way lower than anywhere else and the people are much mnicer. It was all about the money for me and the fact that I only had to spend 6 years in school. My mom actually directed me to it because she is a registered nurse. I at first wanted to be a lawyer then I strongly considered education but healthcare had way better pay and job opportunities. Another example of the cost of living is that I'm paying $1,150 a month for a two bedroom townhouse.

Yeah. It's short term pain for long term gain. Starting salaries for my position are 80-95K so it's a no brainier to take on 30K debt for that.
It sucks, but it's worth it.

I make the same as some doctors and spent half the time in school . It was well worth it and I'm not burdened with all the responsibilities. You are right about the respect part but if I spent that much time in school and buried myself in debt I would want all the accolades as well. Ultimately it's better than doing physical labor or working in any sort of food industry. There's nothing wrong with men being nurses plus we get to mingle with a lot of beautiful female nurses.
