The North Koreans are about 6" shorter on average, so you'd have a bunch of malnutritioned midgets to the North, and healthy 1st worlders in the south. Factor in the northerners are probably brainwashed and not well educated, only good for farming, and god knows what health problems they have like massive smoking and meth abuse, you have a lot on your hands to unify properly.

In fact it's so out of balance that ideas have been floated about knocking China over the edge by somehow causing a situation were NK could flood into China.
And China might not be terribly well-run, but that's a pretty substantial population and economy.
