Local governments are responsive to the voters.
County governments are somewhat responsive, though less so than the local governments
State governments are barely responsive.
The Federal government is so detached from its constituency that it might as well be on a different planet.
As power moves away from the local level, the less and less responsive it is and the more and more detached and aloof it becomes until it is completely unaccountable.
Can you just imagine how detached and unaccountable some form of global government would be.

It's not really free thought and it's not really personal freedom.
People have the ability to speak as regulated by those around them and only act as freely as their capital can provide for them. The concepts you present are not inherent but rather are granted as a chance to be had. The "free world" or "western world" does not offer freedom but rather the chance to attain it.
Outside of this sphere where "freedom" is some kind of meaningless cultural gestalt things are in an even worse state.

The human race has in the last 150 or so years practically expended all of its previous 4600 years of societal gains. This argument is actually very simple, all you have to ask yourself is what benefit does globalism bring you?
Now globalism doesn't mean a free international market, it means completely free movement of human beings who can then extract benefits from you ( extorted by an armed government ) and influence your local culture ( which will eventually disappear ).
If you are prosperous you can only lose with globalism, while if you are poor or a thug you have only to gain. Globalism is cultural and genetic communism in a sense.
Globalism is just a scheme to divided the lower and middile classes up on ethnic lines while the wealthy stick to their gated communities.
