SNP are likely 1 short of a majority.

One of UKIPs main policy's is abolishing the Barnett formula

The Barnett formula sees the Scottish receive £1,300 more per head in Government funding than England, obviously coming out mostly of the pocket of the English tax payer.

Statistically speaking SNP/Green is bloody stupid. Even on the rare occasion it pays off it's luck. Unless you truly want Greens for their own merits rather than simply to increase the indy vote don't split your vote.

SNP with Cons as a sanity check is perfect.
>>
>>73163089

Here's a summary of events so far:

>Labour exceeds pollsters expectations in England, holding the vast majority of their 2011 gains and winning handily in key bellweather constituencies such as Crawley, Southampton, Redditch.
>Tories totally stagnant, especially in the south of England. The inability to improve their position on their disastrous 2011 results (in the wake of the omnishambles budget) will be worrying a lot of Tories behind closed doors
>Labour pushed into 3rd place in Scotland by Tories, SNP still utterly dominant in share of the vote (46%) however despite losing their overall majority. This is the best news of the night for the Tories althoug it is largely symbolic since the SNP utterly dominates Scottish politics on both a local and national level.
>UKIP and Plaid Cyrmru make some gains in Wales, but (for UKIP) not in the rest of the country
>London's mayoral election look like they're on course to a huge victory for Sadiq Khan.

The Rawlings and Thrasher predictions in the Guardian said that Labour would lose 150 seats, and the Telegraph saying they'd lose 170, both of which seem to hugely over-estimate Labour losses and represents a major failing in the polling industry following the general election. Labour's losses have come almost entirely from Scotland - this will worry the Blairites as a very poor election result was needed for them to be able to launch any coup attempt against Corbyn, and the Scottish Labour party is an outpost of Blairite politics and has been all my adult life. There will be some worry in the Tory party that they're unable to overtake Labour in the overall share of the vote or to win prestige victories in the London mayoral vote.

The media is having a very difficult time spinning this result as a disaster for Labour, hence the focus on Scotland since the Labour share of the vote in England has held up remarkably well, even increasing in certain key bellweathers, from any already high marker of 39% in 2011.

New figures show the benefits capital is Knowsley, in Merseyside, which received a total of £149.8million last year after pension payments were stripped out.

With a population of around 80,000 it means that, on average, every adult there gets an annual benefit top up of almost £1,900.

All of which were problems under Labour and earlier the Conservatives going as far back as silly things like the Beeching Cuts and the short-term building of the Forth Bridge. Hell PFI is quite literally a way to cover up an inability to budget and costs more long-term than an increase in taxes. And the NHS figures are 90% bullshit as are claims of increased tax. SNP = A nationalist party that pretends being left-wing means they're the good guys

True or not all these problems go away when you remove WM. Funding is raised locally in each country with a set % going to federal shit like the armed forces and, perhaps, fair funding of specific infrastructure projects for the poorer areas like Wales and Birmingham. Nobody need bitch about money then.

And again you appear not to be applying this same logic to places like Birmingham or Liverpool which are significantly higher in terms of benefit sponges.

British Political Parties for Americans.

The Labour Party - a Democratic Socialist party founded by the trade unions in the early 20th century. They moved to the right substantially under Tony Blair's "New Labour" and then recently elected Jeremy Corbyn, a militant socialist, as their leader signalling a move to the left. Who votes for them - an alliance between the urban proletariat and middle-class radicals. Geographically their vote is/was the big industrial cities of the Midlands (Birmingham, Coventry, Nottingham, Wolverhampton), the North (Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Newcastle) and Scotland (Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee).

The Conservative Party aka the Tories - Originally the party of the aristocratic landed gentry, of King and Country, today they're the political wing of the City of London and the banks. Who votes for them - pensioners, the "patriotic" working-class, landlords, petit-bourgeois small business and the City. Pro-business, privatization, but more socially liberal than the American Republicans. Geographically strongest in rural areas and in the "home counties" outside London & the south-east.

The Liberal Democrats - the direct descents of Britains oldest political party, the Whigs, they renamed themselves the Liberals in the late 19th century, and were the political representatives of the bourgeosie against the Tory aristocracy. They were replaced as the main opposition to the Tories by Labour following ww1 and the introduction of universal suffrage. In the 1980's they merged with a group of Labour party splitters called the Social Democrats to produce the Liberal Democrats. Under leader Nick Clegg they participated as the junior partner in a coalition with the Tories under David Cameron from 2010-2015, which proved immensely unpopular and led to their vote share collapsing from 23% to 7.9% and going from 56 MP's to 8 in the 2015 general election. Who votes for them - no-one, any more.

years of complacency (new labour was predicated on scotland, NE, etc all being forced to vote for labour due to the lack of an alternative 'monkey in a red rosette' so labour could focus on middle-england swing seats.)

in 1999 scotland got a parliament that labour thought would be liberal-labour deals forever
in 2007 the snp won the most seats and became the government, labour never got over it but let it happen thinking it was just a blip
in 2011 the snp won a majority of seats and called a referendum on independence
in 2014 labour and conservatives were on the same side underlining "how far they'd fallen" (not helping by how agreeable the two generally were.), most of the poorer labour voters voted 'yes' to independence.
in 2015 labour's WM seats were wiped out because nobody fell for the 'you need to vote for us to stop the tories' meme, and because the working class support pushed the SNP to about 50% of the vote nationwide [FPTP = simple plurality to get the seat = 50% of the vote ensures you get it but you can win it on 25.1 or less if things go perfect.]

in 2015-16 labour became a completely confused mess after that result and as a result underscored how laughably lacking in credibility they were, leading whatever voters that were left to go to the conservative.

so in summary:
bled left wing support to the SNP
bled unionist/blairite support to CON

>Pathetic to overturn a popular vote like this.
>What's the point of asking people, they should have gone with the popular choice

Twitter retards never seem to realise that if everything was decided by a popular vote we'd have zero immigration, capital punishment would be reinstated and we'd have a Tory/Ukip government.

There's a reason why we have parliamentary democracy rather than mob rule

They're right you tit. Hamilton is corrupt, he was kicked out of the Tories for his 'Cash for Questions' scandal back in the 90s.

>That wants students to have to pay to go to university and wants people to have to pay for prescriptions.
It beyond piss that they now talk about this deluded crap as though thesse proposals are beyond the pale and incomprehensable to think of.

>Scotland pays more taxes than English
>NHS England is fucking collapsing in on itself thanks to Jeremy Cunt. Literally worse than Welsh NHS now.
>lol
>said oil is worthless now
>more on welfare in England than in Scotland.

You probably have a David Cameron sex doll, right?

>the massive increase of waiting times (and related decrease of quality) in the NHS
Piss off.
I've been in the hospital every year since 2004 due to chronic illness, and it has improved MASSIVELY in the last decade and a bit.

NHS Scotland has even improved in general public opinion, as have the others. (even Wales)

All except NHS England, that is, because of the changes Jeremy Hunt introduced that corrupted the NHS from cooperation to competition, then slashed their budgets so they couldn't even properly fucking cover the costs of adapting!

Actually, it does.
A punishing welfare system leads to:
crime
unemployment
long-term illness.
There has been countless cases around the world where the opposite, a decent welfare state, actually lowers those 3 things considerably.
A welfare state is NOT a bad thing.
A welfare state keeps people in work. (as evidenced by the whole of North Europe)

Stop posting. You don't know shit about the UKs financials.

No point in you even replying to him anyway.
He is a generic fucking moron that has no idea how the UK actually works.
He probably gets his news from the TV. (and related news sites)

Finally, posting works again. God damn son.
Time to make breakfast.

the prescription charges thing always hit me as weird. it seems like token bastardism (given if memory is right it's cheaper (or at least the same cost) to give free prescriptions than it is to run the apparatus of means-testing.)
