I've never stood for the pledge, though. Grandparents are ex-Soviets and they hate it. I can see why, too. It's blatant statist indoctrination. I never listened to them, though, mainly because I never gave enough of a shit. School tried to get me to in elementary/middle school, but I didn't give a shit and just slept through it. In high school I was too focused on work or tired, so I either worked/slept through it and remained quiet. Pissed some of my teachers off, but they couldn't do anything about it.
