I don't know about the States but for Canada, $6100-$8000 for summer (May-September) is full-time employment. $6100 would be minimum wage give or take.
Of course there aren't -that- many full-time positions for students unless you're doing a STEM or Accounting co-op.

I actually did this when I was in college because I was desperate. I basically went downtown and begged strangers for donations to fund some green energy climate thing. I wasn't very good at it and was let go in 3 days because if you don't get enough donations in your 3-day probationary period, you were fired.
My heart really wasn't in it. I'm all for the environment and all, but the platform I was shilling didn't include nuclear in their "clean" portfolio. Fucking dropped.
