I don't agree that tipping should be a thing. I feel it is wrong and idiotic that tipping is required or expected. It may be unfortunate that the people who perform the job are underpaid.
Yet, that does not mean it is my obligation to make up the difference. If they are being underpaid, the blame lies with the employer, not the customer. It is not the responsibility of the consumer to make up for the actions of the employer.

I don't know how it works in your country, but if it's similar to here the best advice I can give is get your paramedic license and any other certifications required, get into really good shape physically. The standards set by departments are usually a minimum, fighting fire is an extremely demanding job physically and people rely on you to be able to get shit done.
