I suppose you assume that difference means hierarchy, and hierarchy means oppression. So following your logic, without gender equality, women would be oppressed.
That's not the case though. Some of us simply believe men and women should have different roles, and it's not like either is fundamentally better, but clearly both are important: raising children, educating them, and tending to a home are tasks of the utmost importance that have always been respected. So important in fact that all a man does, is ensure their security, and provide the material means for it.
While the patriarch was king of his domain, he was nothing more than a peasant in his home; the matriarch reigns over the house, and the family as well because she wiped everybody's asses.
It's not hating women to think they should follow a specific role, unless maybe we hate ourselves for doing things we assume a woman cannot. Unless you want to give us a demonstration of working in a coal mine or fighting on the frontlines.
