They have the means to financially undercut every alternative that can exist, because the product they harvest from the ground is dirt cheep to gather. They spend pennies to gather thousands of gallons of oil and to turn it into fuel, and can price it as cheaply as they want and still make absurd profits, plus they receive government subsidies to cover most of their expenses.
