I don't think they'll be that overt, specifically because their powerbase would evaporate overnight as everyone would rapidly figure out they did it. Sort of like the 9/11-Mossad thing blew up despite them trying to downplay it as much as possible in the media.
I think if Trump gets the nomination, they'll continue attacking every single word he says in the media, while doing their utmost to try and flip Congress into being solidly Democrat so he can't accomplish anything.
