How did israel become a country? Like, physically. I know the UN declared it a country but how does that work? They just say "this land no longer belongs to you palestine" and set up camp?
Usually land is acquired through conquering/war. But that's not what necessarily happened here???

This wasn't liked particularly by the Palestinian population nor the neighboring Arab states, so they invaded Israel.

Essentially Israel became Israel at this point due to massive waves of refugees overwhelming the natives, and because Palestine before really was not a nation state; it was Syria and Jordan and thus it was not populated densely nor was the land valuable in most areas.

About a week ago, someone posted a link in a similar thread to how the genetic make up of Palestinians comes from about 50 different Arab regions that are barely mixed, suggesting they are recent inhabitants of the area.

So they arrived in small numbers, with the arabs having no problems with them. They were harmless and lived in their own small communities. All good and well, they were just fleeing war and persecution and needed somewhere to settle. They were just peaceful people looking to start over. Their paranoia and them arming themselves just came from years of oppression.
There eventually came more of them, and the arabs had to give up more and more land. Now jews are in the majority, with people all over the world protesting their poor treatment of the palestinians.
