I'm a Serbian nationalist, and I will put that aside and my explanation of why it is like that. But consider this, my mom is from Montenegro, my dad is from Bosnia. I have relatives in Croatia and central Serbia as well. If we all spoke different languages, how would we all understand every single word at family unions or stuff like that? To a foreigner, this is hard to get because he's never been to these parts. But to anyone around here who isn't a completely retarded brainwashed idiot, this is hilarious.
But, Macedonian and especially Slovenian are real languages and are tougher to understand. Slovenian has mentions in history while Macedonian is a cross between Serbian and Bulgarian.
