I think we're coming face to face with the first uncomfortable truth of Trump's campaign. When he says:

we always assumed it was a joke. But to see Jeb! like this, so utterly beaten, bloodied and humiliated, such a shadow of his former self, we feel inclined to turn to Trump and say "Dude! Stop! He's beaten! We're tired of beating him! Leave him alone!"
And Trump looks at us and says:
