Hell yeah, my chances in the British job market are looking pretty good according to that chart. If I wasn't already gainfully employed in a country where everything is cheaper, I might consider giving it a shot. Also, I did try learning a bit of German but fuck that noise, I was in way over my head on that one.

I heard Slavic languages in general have harder grammar than Germanic or Romance languages. Any thought on that?
>>72285192

What is your experience with German? Is it hard? I know of someone who did German for 6-7 yrs and French for 3-4 yrs and he says his German and French are about the same. German seemed so hard to me after I heard that.

In short, it's a useful language and you can also use it as a gateway to learning other Romance languages.

Honestly I've been busy with shit recently so I haven't had much time besides starting to learn the alphabet. Being that the Cyrillic alphabet is different than the Latin one it's a tad more difficult, but once I nail that and have more time on my hands I'll have more of an opportunity to attack this. As it stands from what I've looked through it's a bit strange and ought to be hard, but I'm a fucking nerd so it ought to be fun honestly

I learnt Japanese throughout primary and middle school but Jap is a fucked language and only turbo-weebs would understand it, I can barely remember the alphabet. I would only be able to read some basic romaji at this point because I haven't touched it in years.

I've been learning French or a month. I can't speak or write it for shit but I've been able to read pretty much all the French in this thread so that's a start

>I am learning German right now and find it a lot easier than Spanish was in High School.

Really? I grew up bi-lingual, so German is my mother tongue but I still have a sort of outsider perspective on it.

Obviously I love my language, but I can see why foreigners would find it sounds bad or is difficult to learn. Compared to English or Spanish, the grammar is much more complicated and poses a massive obstacle for beginners.

I'm surprised there are people who find it easier to learn than Spanish.
>>
>>72294143
Learning anything that is not a Germanic or Romance language is degenerate. I pity the kids who had parents that forced them to learn Mandarin in Middle School.

I find just straight up listening to songs in the foreign language with subtitles (ideally English and the language itself) is really useful. It helps with pronunciation and you might learn a few new words. Been listening to Was ist des Deutschen Vaterland on repeat lately.

I went to a small private school that couldn't accommodate several languages so Japanese was the only one they offered so everyone had to do it unless they got permission from their parents not too

Japanese would have been (It's still pretty good) a good language for business in Australia because from the 80's until the mid-late 2000's Japan was out biggest trading partner, making up like 30-40% of our trade. Now China is out largest but Japan is still our second.

Still, It's not a very useful language unless you want to go into International Business... for anyone other purpose something like French would have been more useful.
>>
>>72294249
I love the way German sounds. Everything sounds like I am about to go invade a country.

Plus a lot of it is pretty similar to English, honestly. Order is mixed up and the pronunciation is a little fucked, but so is English in places. F and V have the same sound but so do K and C sometimes. German is not any more fucked up than English.

Probably a shitload of rules that I have to learn still, but all languages have that.

I literally have. Took three semesters of Spanish in college so I could tell Peruvians off in DotA. If you don't play, just know they're cancerous and laggy. It's an undeveloped country so the only places with online gaming are internet cafes where mostly young kids congregate. They pay for thirty minutes of online time and will disconnect if the game goes longer than that.

Peru is a very class and race sensitive country, so they get very riled when you call them poor indians in their own language. Also telling them to get back to making me my cocaine.
