20 years ago on this day, our nation was dealt a massive blow that left us without 35 loved ones, struck with grief and all asking why this happened. Martin Bryant hunted and killed 35 people with a Colt AR-15 Semi-Automatic assault weapon and wounded a score of others. We as a nation said never again. We never wished for such a horrible and disgusting event to occur to our children and the generations to come. So we changed our recklessly loose guns laws and have been rewarded with a peace the 35 Port Arthur victims were entitled to till that tragic day 20 years ago. We ask that you pray for the families that have suffered an unimaginable loss and act on any talk of loosening firearm legislation. We can't stop Port Arthur, but we can stop it from happening again.

His response to the media attacks was
"I have taken a long time to get over it but they (media) wont let me"

>Howard's Gun Legislation was drafted and printed before the massacre.

>There was a 22-body morgue truck available. (IN TASMANIA?) How many of those are just lying around.

>All of the senior Port Arthur staff members were away at a Work Seminar.

>The Royal Hobart Hospital had put their Emergency Plan in place two days before the massacre.

>The Hobart Hospital had a Trauma Seminar timed to end at the exact moment the shooting started.

>The helicopter pilots were readily available that Sunday. (MOST UNUSUAL)

>The local police were decoyed to be at the opposite end of the peninsula at the exact moment the shooting began.

>Martin Bryant was an intellectually impaired, registered invalid with an IQ of 66.

>The killer scored twenty head shots, from the right hip, in 90 seconds! There are only about 20 shooters that good (better than Olympians) in the Western World. They are the SPOOKS who work for various governments. The killer stopped shooting after firing 29 shots (of the 30 in a magazine). This leaves a live round in the breech while changing magazines. To count while firing at a rate of 48 rounds per minute is a technique that requires tens of thousands of shots to perfect. It is a military skill-at-arms far beyond a mentally retarded youth who fired at a few tins and bits of cardboard in the bush.

>Police were pinned down by fire from the shed and the Seascape Cottage. That is a good trick for a lone gunman.

>Bryant fired two shots at 6.30pm at Port Arthur while he was under siege by police at Seascape.

>There was a suspect black van allowed outside the Broad Arrow Cafe afterwards. It wasn't the federal, state or interstate police. All civilian vehicle traffic was excluded.

>Bryant must have had infra red night vision to tell police their sniper was unwelcome and had to move on.

>Police records indicate they were shot at from two Seascape buildings at once during the night of the siege.

He confessed when, ironically, his lawyer implied a line of defense would be that he was too stupid to have committed the crime. Which ran counter to his motivation, an obssession with the news reporting surrounding the Dunblaine Massacre.

I honestly dont mind the gun thing.

Though i do think some small guns with little mass harm potential like airguns, single shot small bore rifles and airsoft guns should be highly deregulated. They have little chance of causing big problems, and while there might be a increase in suicide by gun numbers or gun related murders, it wont be many more than there is now, because people with the will to do those things will do it anyway.

I remember when i was 15 i brought back a plastic bb gun from Germany back in my baggage, customs in Australia found it and grilled me for 40 mins about not declaring guns and told me i was lucky i wasn't given a charge of firearm smuggling. They let me off free because i was under 18, but seriously, all that over a 5 euro bb gun.

We could do a totally sweet shooting with the guns we can have though.
That's the weird thing. Even though we have a limit on how many bullets we can have in a mag, most of them can hold more and be changed to in seconds with a pair of pliers.

That's what I don't understand. People say we don't have any guns capable of doing a mass shooting anymore and that why we don't have them. Though we do have them and many, MANY "assault" guns on the grey and black market,

Obviously guns aren't the problem.

Regulations are way tough though, i'd agree in saying people with guns can probably modify them pretty easily, but in terms of the actual process in terms of being able to get one legally is super tight.

Like, thats the big thing for me,as someone that's not a gun person and someone that just wants to use them recreationly every now and then, the actual process for getting a licence and then on top of that getting the gun and all the requirements for it is ridiculous.

It's not even that tough though, just paper work and waiting. The most annoying parts are the gun safety course you have to attend and the having to sign in to a range every now and then.

It's not expensive to get. The most I spent getting it was the money for the safety thing.

I will agree that it's annoying to have to put in a gun safe but people will steal your guns.

I'm going to say something slighty unpopular and say I agree with the process you have to go through to get a license and a gun. Though the restrictions on what you can actually own and buy are crap.

A rational person can still get a gun, whereas a manic nutter will have a harder time.

In fact this shit makes me so mad I decided to count the number of deaths from the last 10 before and after port arthur and this is what I found.

Before PA in 9 years there was 43 deaths.
After PA in 22 years there is 74 deaths.

If you average those out per year you end up with 4.7 deaths a year to 3.3 deaths a year from massacres. Banning guns did literally nothing. (and one of the deadliest ones are arson attack!)

If anything we should be banning assault fires. 13 out of the 74 deaths were with actual guns. There are easier ways to kill people if you really want to kill them. Guns are noisy and messy. According to these charts if you want to kill a lot of people you should burn down buildings or maybe even make bombs. As someone who actually likes the bill of rights this shit is infuriating that so many of my country men are so fucking lazy they can't even do basic math.

>>
>>72282791

Banning guns meant that high profile lone gunmen massacres committed by social misfits that are adored by the media didn't occur.

Results are irrelevant anyway. Just see the protests by people in Sydney because they can't drink for 24 hours straight in one small portion of the city, even though this has resulted in a 40% increase in assaults across the whole city.

He's right though.
With true freedom comes some risks.
100% safety would require government controlled shock collars and bubble wraps all over our bodies.
True freedom like sky diving off a cliff entails some risk. Usually it works out fine but some will die and that is how it should be.

sad to see a fellow aus-bro believing this bs

The conspiracy theory itself is completely devoid of any logic.

It denies basic facts of the case and common sense, while performing complete mental gymnastics to cherrypick minor details that cannot be proven true or false. It operates on the idea that

>can't be proven incorrect = correct

tell me this, if it was a CIA inside job why:

>would the gunman shoot with such accuracy, if it was a cover-up wouldnt the CIA try and hide the fact that the shoot had "so many headshots" and shot with an "olympic accuracy"

>would they release the witness statements at all, that supposedly witnessed "multiple shooters"

>would any information that would remotely implicate the CIA be released at all. You think they would orchestrate an attack on this scale, but not be able to come up with a way to cover their tracks in such a way that some retard on the other side of the world can read some blog and believe they have cracked the "real case"

but nah mate, you're probably right, I reckon you've figured out the CIA, Mossad and ASIO master plan
>>
>>72286576

From one of his nurses;

> “Forget all that newspaper BS about Bryant being locked-up in solitary, in maximum security,” he scoffed. “He’s been with us for the past nine years, watching TV with a dozen prison nuts. We had to send him back to Risdon Max last November when he twice turned violent against a female nurse.”

> He described the Port Arthur killer as certainly not crazy, just a wildly obese simpleton with a severe form of Asperger’s syndrome — completely devoid of social conscience or skills.

> “He laughs at violent stories on the nightly news,” the nurse told me. “And when I ask why he says ‘I just think they’re funny’. He describes in appalling detail how he killed some of those innocent people at Port Arthur. He’s disgusting.”
>>
>>72290394

Most conspiracy theorists are basically cowards, terrified that they could die by chance or at the hands of an idiot run amok. They want to believe a greater, stronger presence is orchestrating their fate, because an evil overaseer is more comforting than chaos.

You don't even have to delve into the Port Arthur stuff deeply to see it all fall apart. Nearly all of the facts (hip firing, headshots, one in the chamber) are wholly fictious ramblings with no sources originating from a conspiracy blogger who believes in alien mind control.

>he confessed to the crime and wanted attention
>father's and mother's saw him gun down their children.

Can you address the 2 points above first? Your discrepancies are odd sure, but they dont countervene the more important points of, people saw him do it, a lot of his victims froze in shock and he just walked up point black and shot them, he wasn't mentally handicapped just had a learning difficulty, he owned guns all his life and was well practised with them living in a rural area.

You don't need a genius level IQ to operate a firearm, they are designed so the dumbest idiot can point and shoot accurately with enough practice.

Paying 35 lives for freedom is a good deal you fucking pathetic cuckold pansy.

Do you know how many lives have been lost in wars over the centuries in order to gain or sustain freedom? Yet you give it up over a measly 35.

American has the right idea. A few hundred people being shot in school shootings this last decade, that's like buying a brand new Ferrari for a few hundred dollars. Freedom is more important than anyones lives. If you have to die for freedom, so be it.

If you don't like that, maybe you should fuck off to France you pathetic loser and surrender all your rights and freedoms because you're such a fucking coward that a little death will scare you out of defending anything.

I'd gladly trade another 35 Australian lives for the freedom of owning weapons, fuck I'd trade a hundred, a thousand even. If you aren't willing to give your own life in the fight for freedom you deserve nothing, and those that take away others freedom, for any reason are traitors.

OP I would gladly have you executed for your treason against the Australian people. Fuck you. And by the way, crime increased in Australia after the gun ban, mass stabbings everywhere and bikies make their own guns and do drive by shootings every other week.
