I still expect the GOP to try and steal the nomination, even if it's illegal or against the party's existing rules. They would rather lose the presidency than nominate Trump, because they know Trump is going to irreversibly change the status quo into something they can't control.

This, I could so easily see the rules committee upping the threshold for the first ballot to force a contested convention if Trump gets like 1250, then Cruz-Fiorina going on stage, accepting the nomination, and proudly declaring that "the American people" have made their choice for the next president loud and clear, and that they want a TRUE CONSERVATIVE in the oval office.
