Civillization reached it's peak at the end of the 19th century.
Since then it's all going down hill.
Did you ever stop to think that society doesn't actually suck, but this board is just filled with depressed people? If it was 1895 you'd be bitching about some other stupid fucking reasons.
Thats what Spengler said too
>>72244143
Indeed.
Glory, pride and happiness fuelled our nation.
>>72244238
Nope, wouldn't have time to bitch. I'd be building, creating, working, travelling, inventing, exploring, caring, dreaming or supervising,
>>72244143
>>72244630
>implying it isn't easier to do those things now provided you have the money (which is probably easier to have than it was back then.)
Get off 4chan ever once in a while. Go outside. You might realise that society isn't remotely as bad as this place makes it out to be.
>>72244630
It's more likely you'd be stuck in a factory job that's dangerous as fuck and barely pays enough for you to stay alive.
>>72244143
Pretty much.
>>72244143
This Generation sucks i wish i was born in the 19th century. And i will be rich because i'm Special XD.

>Any time before the internet being better than any time after the internet

>using the internet to shit on technology

this.
Sure they created a shit load of wealth during that time, but God forbid you werent one of the rich elite. One of the many problems of immigration: It brings your worth as labour force down, thus making you more and more replaceable.
>>72244143
You're just mad your life is shit so you think it would be better 200 years ago?
>>72244974
this
and

that.
Enjoy living in a shed, working 12 hours a day on the assembly line.
>>72244238
They had opium dens for that specific kind.
>>72247387
They didn't even have assembly lines back then. It'd be manual farm work, the mines, a steel mill or other hot and dangerous factory, or, if you were skilled, craftsman's work. People fail to realise that the very large majority lived in conditions we now find third world tier inhumane. Child labour was common and food consisted mainly of potatoes and bread for most. Income inequality was way higher, when looking at living standards instead of pure nominal income. For the rich, no time would have been really bad, save for barbaric times. A Roman senator, a medieval king, Renaissance merchant or 19th century nobleman would all be situations one would not have much to complain in, when one would not fall sick. For a peasant, there would be almost no difference between the Roman days and the early 19th century. This too is something people never realise: the poorest of the poor, in many first world countries, have access to luxuries a Roman emperor could only dream of. Of course, there aren't any palace slaves to put grapes in your mouth, but those slaves couldn't cure even the simplest of infections, leaving you to die in agony, whereas a simple antibioticum. would render that a minor inconvenience nowadays.
