The whole point of the symbol isn't that it's a cross, but that it's burning. It represents 1 - the destruction of traditional Christian values in America and more importantly 2 - the "fiery spirit" of the Klansmen in their endeavors to cleanse their community of the filthy and degeneracy brought in by liberals and their nigger allies.
That's why it's not considered desecration of a cross, the entire point is that it's a cross of fire and not just a cross. It's both a cleansing fire, and a symbol of the destruction of Christianity in America.
