We had a lockdown scare in my high school once and we thought someone might shoot up the school.
People started making dumb jokes and acting like nothing was happening.
Meanwhile, I was preparing for the inevitable shitstorm, I wasn't joking. I was figuring out whether or not I was close enough to the exits, whether or not I should try to climb up into the ceiling rafters and hide.
Or whether or not I should try and convince my class to fight if someone barged through the door(but I thought my chances of doing that were low)
People just cope differently.
