All these people with dyed hair, piercings, hippie beards, beanies are actually pretty depressed people.
They were depressed even before they decided to change their appearance. What happens is that all those characteristics I mentioned are kinda promoted by the media as well, saying that it makes you more unique and individual. And these depressed people will do it, trying to pull out that uniqueness from themselves. But they aren't accepted by society because they look like freaks. Later they get angry because they aren't accepted and are denied of their happiness as individuals. They get angry and depressed more and more.
There aren't many of them here, but from what I've seen, they are frustrated, angry, withdrawn from society, voting and supporting people who might support them in return, e.g. Sanders.
I know two girls who fit these categories, I don't agree on anything they say about politics in fact sometimes I want to break their necks, but I do feel sorry for them because they're just tools for someone's agenda
