Work in the biochemical engineering field.
Work specifically on genetics.

Whether you are fat or thin is based on your genes.
Should be able to use gene therapy to fix obesiety.

Take me for example. I eat 2-3 half gallons of ice cream, per week, and I weigh 160 at 6'3"
Its all genetics.

Also i sue the FDA about the lies back in the seventies because of sugar and i also ban beauty pageants for those under 20. The skeletal body grows, but not through body fat. >>
>>72133390
This post is 100% correct. As a /fit/izen, I despise fat people both for their bad aesthetics, but moreso for their drain on society. Treating obesity is by FAR the largest expense on our healthcare system. If every citizen was as fit as me, healthcare would be essentially free.

>Never use healthcare, fit as fuck, 28 years old. Only problem is nagging injuries from liftign.
>>
>>72128662

It's not going to be fixed until society collapses and people start starving to death.

The more people become obese, the more socially acceptable it will become. Everyone has known that it's unhealthy to be obese. It hasn't stopped the current epidemic. Now the tumblr crowd is hard at work telling people that they should be happy being fat, that it's not unhealthy to be overweight, that all bodies are beautiful, etc etc.

If the obesity rate has climbed steadily when people were being told that being obese is incredibly unhealthy for you, just imagine how much higher it will climb when they start hearing, "Fat is beautiful! Health at every size!"

I've long since resigned myself to the fact that being a person who is a healthy weight, eats well and exercises regularly makes me an incredible minority. Something absurd like less than 5% of the American population hits all three of those marks. And it will get worse.
>>

It does encounter the problem that you'll actually have to pay someone to make yearly checkups on people and how overweight they are.

Its not a matter of
>make the amerifats do gym
That would help, but it is a global problem. 1 in 3 people from the UK, America, Australia, New Zealand, and tons of countries are obese.
>>
>>72133722
The government can engineer it. They did it to tobacco when literally everyone used to smoke cigarettes. Unfortunately they would probably have more push back now against fatties than they ever did against tobacco
>>
>>72133651

>Treating obesity is by FAR the largest expense on our healthcare system.

You should check out a study that came out awhile back about this topic. Bottom line, it said that the obese throughout their lifetime actually cost the healthcare system LESS money than healthy people. Even though they take up more obesity related healthcare resources, they die a lot sooner. Healthy people use more resources in total because they live longer.

Not disagreeing with you in principle though, obesity is degeneracy and should be addressed.
>>
Immediately stop all food subsidies, welfare programs, government healthcare.

The only way to fix this issue is to make the fat fucks pay for their fatness instead of offloading the birder to tax payers.
>>
>>72128662
Education

The average person knows JACK. SHIT. about nutrition. They don't know how calories work - they don't know about macronutrients and the importance of each one. They don't know how to cook healthy and fresh meals. It'd still take a hard, hard lesson in self-control for the really obese to stop eating the junk, but food education I think is the main reason why people get so fat including children.
>>
>>72133953
I'm pretty sure in Japan they do not this. People have to get their waist measured every year
>>
>>72128662
Put them all on an obscure island and have them work for their survival. Help them for the first two weeks, then leave them to their own devices. The ones who survive a few months will be inserted back into society.
>>
>>72134328
The education should be parenting. That is where they get their habits from.
>>
>>72134259
I see what you're saying...kinda. Dying at 60 of a heart attack or dying at 95, the 95 year old may have actually used more total resources. Hmmm I'd like to see how those numbers fell. I am a pharmacist, and I see the cost of these meds, adn holy fuck is it expensive.
>>
>>72134328
Education doesn't work. The only thing that works is to make is socially unacceptable

People don't smoke because they're afraid of buying judged not because they're afraid of lung cancer
>>
>>72134440
Japan (and China) are countries that rely on rice as being a staple in their diet, not just tons of meat. If China doesn't collapse as is capitalizes, its obesity rates will start shooting through the roof probably.

Japan on the other hand has a diet of fish and rice, so they're one of the lowest rates of obesity on the planet. However, they either live to an old age or get colon cancer and die horrifically because of the diet.
>>
>>72134514
But my point was that adults don't know shit about nutrition either. Thorough nutrition education (not just "fruits/veggies GOOD soda BAD") should be implemented in schools and a much stronger public service of nutrition education for adults so they can feed their kids and themselves proper stuff.
>>
>>72128881
Metabolism can be impacted by genetics, sure.

That doesn't mean weight management isn't an option for people who shouldn't be eating a lot of food.

They need discipline, routine, and/or professional help in the more extreme cases.

On the flip side:

By dying early of da beetus, you spit less money into the government and hence less money for the healthcare system

Assume healthy people died on the same average age as fatfucks, it's obvious which one cost more.

By taking away their food to feed the starving

Funny how on one end there is a starvation crisis and shortage of food in places and on the other there is an obesity crisis. Limit the food people who are over 250lb can buy (exception people like bodybuilders who are over 250lb due to muscle) and send some of the food to those who are starving

I think the Americans call it 2 birds 1 stone?
>>
>>72128662
Use one free market and one socialist solution:

>attach fitbits to fat people over 350 lbs
>determine what the mean average daily miles walked is.
>pay them $1 for every mile they walk over and above the mean

>make bariatric surgery covered by all insurance.
>>
>>72135031
a quarter of its population is obese
>>
>>72134752
First of all, I didn't know smoking cigarettes was socially unacceptable. Secondly, you have to be a certain age to smoke - old enough to make your own decisions and yes, I've met people that are very much at terms with their mortality. Not to mention, they don't have to look super unhealthy on the outside. However, I think ignorance is by far the driving force behind poor eating. No one actually wants to look like a giant bag of lard, so I think people would be receptive to it.
>>
>>72134539

Oh wow, yeah I bet the cost of those meds are crazy. Here's that study:

"The model predicted that until the age of 56, yearly health costs were highest for obese people and lowest for healthy-living people. At older ages, the highest yearly costs were incurred by the smoking group. However, because of differences in life expectancy (life expectancy at age 20 was 5 years less for the obese group, and 8 years less for the smoking group, compared to the healthy-living group), total lifetime health spending was greatest for the healthy-living people, lowest for the smokers, and intermediate for the obese people.

These findings suggest that although effective obesity prevention reduces the costs of obesity-related diseases, this reduction is offset by the increased costs of diseases unrelated to obesity that occur during the extra years of life gained by slimming down."

Not as much as vaping, vape-heads are freaks.

If you smoke a cigar or the tobacco pipe you're not going to offend most people, but cigarettes are nasty these days and most are mostly filler and chemicals, and really reek like it too.
