there's already the chinese on that market share.
But if Russia come back on the ship industrie, they'll do ship like the Yamal Ямáл, as they have a huge arctic sea territorie and for strategic reason they need ship that can handle either warm and cold sea.
And they also have the knowledge in nuclear propulsion.

But I'm affraid that Russia hasn't fully recover the power and economy of the Soviet Union, and that kind of project aren't going to be realised soon.
And Russia share the same problem as Europe, and middle east with the mudslims terrorists attack and guerrilla, that's the real pain, and unfortunately boat can't do anything in those case.

The Mistral Class is used for deployment purpose, its not a battle ship. That's why it could be useful against the mudskins in Middle East.

>Capacity:59 vehicles (including 13 AMX Leclerc tanks) or a 40-strong Leclerc tank battalion
>Aircraft carried:16 heavy or 35 light helicopters

Russian have a shitload of vehicles, but nothing for bringing them.

Yamal isn't a battle ship too.
And that's a fuckin huge achievement in terms of ship building, that can be use for military deployement too.

Concerning any Russians troops deployement from the sea, I'm more than skeptical, Russia doesn't control any strategic point around the middle east.

>>
>>72108099
She wanted the Exocet codes because they were the one thing in the Argentine arsenal that could possible sink either of the two British carriers. Losing one of the carriers likely would have meant the loss of the war if they couldn't secure a replacement. Supposedly she threatened to nuke Buenos Aries to get the French to give up the codes which they did end up doing but I've never seen anything confirming it was because of a threat to use nukes.

>>
>>72112347
But Rafales look gay.
Grippens look great.

Honestly we need a mix of strike fighter/bombers and air superiority fighters.
I'd look at a mix of SU-34 and a fifth gen fighter (throw up between PAK-FA due to great sensor suite and F-35 due to it having better stealth).
>>
>>72112726
Fuck off cheese nigger.
>>
>>72113228
Grippen are good if you want a cheap bomb mule to mess with dirtfarmers.
Rafales are great if you need to prepare for a war and don't have infinite money.
F35 are great if you don't like having money or a big army.
>>
>>72113251
woops sorry there are 2 threads related to France and i was thinking i was on the french speaking one.

>>72113228
Rafale are both air superiority and bomber it s a pretty amazing plane.
dont fall for the f35 ponzi. that plane wont deliver and will be ready when the 6th generation will be fully operational. the stealth is not even working on oldschool radars (thou it does on new radars .. something about waves cant remember)
>>
>>72113505
>F35 are great if you dont plan to have an air force before 2040
FTFY
>>
>>72113542
The Rafale is a multirole, like the F-35, but it lacks the sensor advantage of the PAK-FA and the stealth advantage of the F-35.
>>
>>72113917
and yet it destroyed every F35 wich is supposed to be the ne plus ultra..
the su-50 is pretty good and a much newest gen but i doubt both planes met on "top gun" meeting.
>>
>>72113629
This too. The first Rafale was made in the 90's. By the time it will be in actual deployment, I bet we will produce the next generation.
>>
>>72113917
But it can handle 1.5 it's own weight.
No other multirole can do that, and that's particularly an important point with these jets.

And it made it's proofs.

Awful decision.

Sorry frogbros, your sub might be good, but your government is notorious for blackmailing us with threats of no support or spare parts if we even think of doing things that you don't like.

There's also been a string of bad european defense purchases lately for the ADF (Tiger, NH90, euro torpedos, AWD etc) while every american (and the Japanese subs are basically american influenced Japanese built diesels)
purchase has been nearly flawless (romeo, more abrams, Wedgetail, Super Hornets etc)

This is just Prepbull spitting in Abbott's face because he was so red hot on the Japanese deal.

One of the main reasons Japan allowed itself to export military hardware was the expectation that this sub deal would go ahead, imagine how angry they are now...

The NH-90 is actually pretty great.
The Abrams is ancient shit that gets rekt by man portable weapons.
Wedgetail is neat, but far behind the curve because Clapistan won't give us the hood shit.
Super Hornets are good bomb trucks, but will never be as good for our purposes as the F-111 was, but they're too old nowadays.

You almost conquered Europe then got BTFO, you pissed off Bismarck and got BTFO, you barely got through WWI and then in WWII you got BTFO. Then there's Algeria, BTFO. Then Indochina, BTFO.

You guys need to secure a solid win against someone. Anyone. Then the meme will die down some I think.

Except it's years behind schedule and barely better than the newer blackhawk models that would've been progressions of our current fleet and introduced as smoothly as the romeo was into the navy.

Nothing beats american when it comes to reliable killing machines. They use more of them more frequently, the supply chain, the institutional knowledge etc is just incomparable to eurotrash equipment.

>The Abrams is ancient shit that gets rekt by man portable weapons.

Feel free to suggest an alternative.

>Wedgetail is neat, but far behind the curve because Clapistan won't give us the hood shit.

We get more access to American signals and intelligence tech than anyone else courtesy of five guys, we don't need better because no one else has it.

>Super Hornets are good bomb trucks, but will never be as good for our purposes as the F-111 was, but they're too old nowadays.

Because the f-111 was obsolete and expensive. SH+refuellers+glide bombs get you similar range. Plus we now no longer might be considering nuclear or wanting to level buildings in Jakarta like we did in the 50s onwards.

Again, suggest a better replacement than the SH.

NH-90 will be better in the long run.

The Abrams we get is an ancient model, either a new model Leopard, a new model Abrams or even a new model T-90 would offer better survivability - we need to skip refits and just jump onto the next major armour development project.
Russia is leading the field in electronic warfare, second best in a fight is still dead.
The SH is great, read my original post, but it will never be as good as the F-111 was for bomb truck duties - if we had the service infrastructure for Flankers the SU-34 with a western electronics package and a Russian EW suite would be GOAT bomb truck.

The combat system for collins and soryu are based on the us/virginia system too, meaning when the french help with the subs they can't access the american parts (since they are not even slightly trusted by the US as an ally) and when the Americans work on the combat system we are going to have to hide all the french bits they don't want the americans seeing.

It's absolute madness.

>>72118470
Yeah it's ramp is turning out to be useless because of the danger of the rear prop the bigger carrying capacity is turning out to be false because to accomodate that many people you had to have unsafe seating and also risk damage the floor.

The side door gun can't fire while troops (dis)embark, like you can on the blackhawks.

>It's absolute madness.

Exactly, everybody knows France has an independent foreign policy to the United States (opposition to Iraq war, Quebec, etc)
There is no possible way for us to integrate into the ASB and operate the same systems as the America.
They wont let us use the same equipment if the french can steal it!

French navy is honestly great navy. You aussies are much better off than with the Japs.
Japs are backed by americans, so if you buy from them your hands are tied when it comes to the shitstorm in South-East Asian sea. America's military power is the shadow of what it used to be, better start develop an independent foreign policy like France.

We don't get the whole 40, only a third because it'll all be built in Australia. Not a bad deal.

No because $1 spent that goes to Japan would be worth $10 000 spent anywhere else.

Japan is a U.S ally (Japan-US alliance) We are an American ally, (ANZUS). It makes sense for us to co-operate because our defense postures are set up under the same system to support American power in Asia.

As you mentionned, France conquered a significant part of Europe before being eventually overthrown, like 99% of conquerors. Then the Prussian war was lost, but WW1 was a heroic French & British victory. The role of the US in that war was minimal.
WW II was a plain old defeat, true.
The war of Algeria was won by the French, De Gaulle gave them independence to focus on domestic policy. All of the world's colonies were revolting at that time anyway.
In Indochina the French were actually much smarter than us, reached their military objective and left the conflict after securing deals that preserved their interests.

And you're forgetting all of France's recent history of removing jihadi-niggers throughout the whole African continent. When shit fucks up in the Middle-East the U.S get called, but Africa is France's playground.
Look up Mali, RCA, and countless others. Not to mention the ton of "external operations" France is currently leading, because it does not fight wars anymore. France just sends soldier wherever needed and get the job done.

The Frog's right, we mad at them for being right on Iraq. Also, look up the space warfare that took place right after Villepin's speech. As hard as it is to believe it, France actually BTFO our satellites after we tried to disrupt theirs.

I've got 99 reasons to laugh of the French, but their military ain't one

They should buy some Mirage III's off you guys while they're at it.

I trust the French to do a good job. A stealthy, black, phallic shaped object capable of waging a surreptitious and deadly war against its opponents seems to be an area of expertise for the French.

Why does Australia needs such an expensive military anyway? You're pretty much like Britain except there is noone in the vicinity who could or would ever care enough to invade your country.

Yeah, I guess so. That's why Korea is a unified Communist state, Noriega is still in Panama and Saddam rules Iraq with an iron fist.

If a security situation escalated tomorrow in NE Asia, the only countries that could affect change are US, Japan.
France can't do anything, we need to better integrate with out allies in the region to make the most of our resources.

$50 billion holy fuuuuug!

This was even in Norwegian media. Apparently the Japanese government was "extremely disappointed" by the choice.

Norway will buy new subs soon too, but these are too large for Norway. I'm hoping for the German Type 212 (or the French Scorpene).
