I make my own guitar pedals, synths and shit from scratch and i wouldnt go near 95% of a motherboard or pc component with my irons because 99.99% of the components on boards like that are micro components.
Tbh most boards in everything these days are like that with the exception of things like power supplies in tvs/dvd/players etc.

I've been programming for 16 years, doing it professionally for 9 and I've met only one woman worth her salt. Back when I was in the university, all the women in my class were carried either by another male student or the faculty themselves. This wouldn't have been a problem if the guys had got similar treatment, but they had to actually work to get things done (which on a hindsight wasn't probably a bad thing, considering how little women learned after all). Worst thing about it all was that women got better grades for similar code.
It didn't really work the way it supposed to for women, though. I know of only one girl who went into software development in the private sector and even she dropped out after a couple of years. If they actually chucked the women in the deep end to see if they'll sink or swim, we'd see better programmers and software developers.

Software dev here, can confirm this. In uni my generation started with 7 women out of ~60 people. By the 2nd year we were down to 4/~50, and by the 3rd the remaining 4 dropped out as well. They were by far the worst of our generation. Luckily my country isn't too plagued by the neolib shit so none of them got their degrees.
Was also forced to do a group project with 2 of them once. They did close to nothing, and instead just sat around talking. I wouldn't mind seeing more women in software development, but the standards have to be strictly equal for both sexes. Many folks who try to become a software engineer or developer seem not to understand that programming is a demanding discipline; diligence, patience and especially practice are all required. If the person isn't committed, then it's nearly impossible to become good within the field, no matter how much certain parties try to force women into STEM.
One thing that annoys me the most about women in STEM (especially in the CS programs) is the fact that they've got these great grades, up until university. Then they suddenly become retarded and can't solve simple programming exercises without major help.
