Stefan needs to eat he has a daughter to support. It's most likely he's pandering a bit to widen his audience and gain more popular support/views.
It's also entirely possible that, as he said, the state of the world is too fucking messed up to be sitting there worrying about if Determinism is real or not. He has to try to inform people of the upcoming and current Europe crisis. Or at least, that's what he might be feeling.
