Even with Webb helping Trump win Virginia, Trump still can't get to 270. He can't win Ohio,NH,Colorado,Iowa,Nevada,Wisconsin. The Gop's best bet is a Kasich/Rubio ticket.

if this trend continues and he's somewhere between 5-3 points within range of hillary by june, he's literally fine

the democrats have been fighting cuckservatives for the last 10 years so they know how to fight kasich, trump is a wild card and they will take more time to figure him out

I emailed Milo suggesting he spread the idea, hopefully he'll do it.

In the meantime, can people redpill me on HW Bush during the Reagan administration? I've read he used Reagan's shooting (whether he was related to it or not) to assert his influence over the White House and remove his enemies, and that there was a lot of rivalry between loyal Reaganites and Bushmen. Is that true, and where does Webb fit in?
>>
>>72047730
Webb won't win Virginia for Trump. VP choices don't have that much impact in the general election. Webb also has lots of baggage which people here are overlooking, but I won't go into detail because I almost want Trump to pick Webb to guarantee a Democratic victory in November.
>>
>>72047730
Go look at how many votes Trump received in NV vs Hillary. Then NH.

Iowa and Wisconsin are irrelevant and worth almost no electoral votes.

Trump wins MI, OH, VA, and WV with Webb, and possibly NC. Trump wins Florida.

If even half of that is correct, Trump wins the election.

That's called an "outlier." Another poll conducted after that one showed Hillary up by 11 points:

There's no sign of any real narrowing over the last few weeks.

You know what's so fucking pathetic? Not only do you underage redditors think this might be a good idea, you think it would be possible in the first place. Cabinet position? Fine, but know you don't split the ticket you god damn idiots.

It's gotten to the point where the Trumpettes are as low information, if not lower, voters as the Sandernistas. I'm embarassed to even associate with you dumb shit redditors.
>>
>>72049048

Who'd you think would make a good VP for Trump then?
>>
>>72048836
april is still too early to tell

hillary would smash cruz or kasich regardless of what the polls say, neither of them have the charisma of trump needed to get voters into the booth

trump has been softening his image considerably for the general election and if he's within striking distance of hillary by june, it's going to be a close race.
>>
>>72049048
Pretty early to be drunk already, little Marco.
>>
>>72049048
What's a better alternative?

>You don't split the ticket
Trump hasn't gotten this far by behaving conventionally.
>>
>>72048691
Rubio would win Florida for Kasich because of the extra Miami-Dade votes.
>>
>>72049162
>>72048636
Also, the poll showing a close race was conducted by GWU/Battleground, which has a mediocre C+ rating from 538:

http://fivethirtyeight.com/interactives/pollster-ratings/

The more recent poll with Clinton leading by 11 points is from Suffolk, which has a B rating.
>>
>>72049162

Yep, current polls mean very little, it's too early.

Kasich is a non starter, he's basically a republican Hillary with even more desire to start ww3.

Cruz is just a repellant guy. He has no chance of getting any Democrat or independent votes whatsoever, and is hated by a lot of Republicans.

Trump is the only competitive choice I can see.
>>
>>72049048

It's obviously your first rodeo, so I'll try to explain. A major reason the convention exists is to determine the winner. In the past, the runner up was almost always the VP. However, in the modern era, especially if it's a contested convention, the VP pick is used to woo delegates. You're not going to woo a single god damn REPUBLICAN delegate by picking a Democrat, especially when half of the party already thinks you're a liberal.

It will almost certainly be Kasich, possibly Rubio that gets the nod. Pretty moderate Republicans but still enough to the right that conservatives might more likely consider rallying around. You don't pick a fucking Democrat.

Cabinet position? Sure, and it will be an easy pick. You do want bipartisan elements in a cabinet and he's an obvious pick
>>
>>72049614
Getting 4x as many votes as Hillary with twice as many competitors is a pretty good indicator and it's unfortunate that you didn't lurk more before starting your new job at the Clinton campaign because we've been seeing your shitty arguments since October and they don't hold up.

Sun Tzu once said the greatest form of generalship is not victory on the battlefield, but to balk your enemy's plans. To attack when and where they least expect it. To deny them the opportunity to fight on their terms, and instead to force them to fight according to your own design.

Republicans and Democrats have played each general election by the same playbook for nearly two generations. Both parties know which states are a given for each side and which states are the traditional swing states and it's rare for either party to move far outside that comfort zone. But not Trump - he goes for the unorthodox, the bold, the ballsy.

What move could be more brazen than for a Republican nominee to compete directly with a Democrat for their own base?

The one thing the media has so far refused to even acknowledge in this race is how disgruntled moderates Democrats are with the DNC right now. The party has been pushing further and further towards the fringe for more than a decade now - shaming moderates into submission at every turn - and most of us are sick of it.

Trump could bring an Independent or Moderate Democrat onto the ticket and compete with Clinton for center-left Democrats, with the full knowledge that evangelical and establishment Republican voters will, at worst, vote for a third party or stay home, or more likely still show up at the polls if only to vote against Clinton. Now suddenly the media narrative isn't "Can Trump Sway Evangelicals?" it's "Can Hillary Hold Onto Moderate Democrats?"

Trump could throw the traditional election playbook to the wind. Suddenly you've got states like Pennsylvania, Iowa, New Mexico, Michigan, maybe even parts of New England in play on top of the usual swing states. Sure Trump won't carry most of them, but the Democrats still have to waste time, money, and effort making sure, because losing even one or two destroys the DNC's game plan.

A Trump/Webb ticket could force the entire campaign to be fought on Trump's terms.
>>
>>72049601
This dumb shit right here is why I'm embarassed to support the same candidate as you. The whole purpose of the 2 party system is it allows the party platforms to change. If Trump wins, there will definitely a policy change.

Because I'm not an underage idiot, I don't want some "revolution." That's what the idiot Sandernistas over on Reddit want, and it will fucking fail. I want Trump to win to help heal an impotent Republican Party which has been useless for the past 8 years.
>>
TRUMP/WINFREY TICKET SOO
OR

TRUMP/PEROT
>>
>>72050424
The parties *have* changed. The GOP has become mired in evangelical social politics and Reagan nostalgia while the Dems have shifted further and further towards social justice and socialism.

Both party's are drifting inexorably towards the fringes, and the only sensible option is to drive one of them back towards the sensible center.

It ain't gonna be the Democrats... not with people like Clinton and Sanders at the helm. And it's not gonna be an evangelical like Cruz.
>>
>>72049959

Kasich already said he's rather die than be Trump's VP. But Trump called Narco a "really good guy" in one of his recent rallies so that might be it.
>>
>>72049959
You're assuming it will be a contested convention. If Trump gets 1237 he can finally tell the GOP to fuck off and set his sights for the general. If not...

>It will almost certainly be Kasich
This is where you lost me. Have you seen Trump's comments on Kasich? Kasich is weak. Trump has called out his ties to the Lehman Brothers and attributed his success in Ohio to a fluke from fracking. Even today he has been bullying and mocking Kasich, calling him disgusting. Rubio is slightly more likely but has called Trump an embarrassment.

Trump needs to take a calculated risk to win the general election. Your condescension doesn't make you right.

No, they won't, and you have nothing to back this retarded claim up. People never come out to "vote against" someone, even in incumbent years. It's why Romney lost, is because he couldn't energize the base.

Trump really doesn't have to do much, but he does have to at least something to bring them in, or AT LEAST not completely alienate them. Webb would be a huge mistake, and would seriously make me reconsider voting for him, and I'd even go as far as to consider whether he actually was a Hillary plant.

1. He would not vote for Hillary Clinton.
2. That he is undecided currently about whether he would vote for Trump.
>>
>>72052216
Exactly why webb is perfect. Look at the shit he says about the party. He constantly talks about how the Democratic party now panders to emotion and barely resembles what it once was. Webb has little or no views that would today be considered a Democratic ideal

>>
>>72052229
I was referring to the shit the cruzbots spew that Trump is the plant. Trump has been calling to unify the Republican party. the Never Trump folks on the right are not that big. But if he gets the 1237 (which we'll probably have a definitive answer tomorrow), and then turns around and picks Webb (a literal who for most people, especially on the right) that would be the dumbest move in my lifetime.

If he unifies the Republican Party before the convention, and then effectively splits it, that's retarded.

It's pretty much too late for that, at least for this cycle. He really should've done that right when he dropped out, because that would have really put him in the spotlight, and would be a major boost for Trump and the entire Republican Party. It would really eliminate the "Trump is a Democrat" line if you really show, definitively, that the Democrats are too far gone.

Why do Trumpfags lie so much? Are you just stupid?

Trump got 100,406 votes in NH
Hillary got 95,252
Sanders got 151,584

Clearly, based on the April poll of New Hampshire, most of the Sanders voters will choose Clinton vs Trump, which is more than enough to give her a safe lead.
