My sister faced the exact same problem as the writer of that piece. I explained to her that there are choices in life and that you can't both eat the cake and save it at the same time. She wouldn't listen, things took a turn for worse when she hit mid 30s: she burned out at work, got depressed and her career went to shit along with her health. Now she's an early retiree living on government bucks.
