Tomorrow the NHS will be closed as the BMA call a general strike, there will be no operations carried out from 8am - 5pm.

People will die.

Can someone explain the new contract to me that they are protesting?

Do you believe Jeremy Hunt should keep his iron resolve or resign?
>>
Just a junior doctor strike not a senior doctor strike

The hospitals will still be open
>>
The new contract forces them to work more unfavourable hours at an overall lower net income.
>>
>>72021434

I am not a junior doctor but if government can ass ram doctors then they will be able to do the same to other health professions.

>>
We need a social insurance system like Singapore or Switzerland. State health care doesn't work, and leads to situations like this.

Yup, if you haven't been paying taxes into this country for a good number of years then fuck off to BUPA
>>
>>72021841
To be honest it's a bit shit that if you decide to BUPA you are still paying for the NHS

Really the taxes you pay should be only on the services you actually use, and if you decide on an alternative you should get a refund
>>
>>72021261
Anyone got a copy of the contract?
>>
>>72022069
>if you decide to BUPA you are still paying for the NHS

In all honesty I see very little wrong with this. Despite the fact I want to go on BUPA when i'm earning a little more. Hard-working people rely on the NHS and it needs all the funding it can get.
>>
>>72021668
Agreed. no NI number no treatment for starters.

Dr's always say "But we can't turn anyone away if they are seriously ill."

How to get round this aspect?
>>
>>72022248
Back when we weren't filled with so many wasters and foreign scum I'd agree with you

Regular hard workers are better off going private anyway because the NHS keeps you waiting in pain and suffering for months and months. I was in the system for 3 years with a severe case of IBS which the NHS didn't even solve, only when I went private was the issue diagnosed
>>
>>72022461
>"But we can't turn anyone away if they are seriously ill and British."
That's how, doctors are here to look after our own
>>
Your health service is full niggers from africa and shitskins. They know nothing and sometimes even worse - they know shit.
How anyone can allow that to happen is beyond me.
>>
>>72022593
Yeah good point.
I knew a guy from Algeria, his mother was seriously ill so he flew her over here to die, care of the NHS.
Once she was here they were forced to treat her at British taxpayers expense.
This goes on all the time.
>>
>>72022461
As a med student who has seen A&E wards, it's impractical as fuck to try and get everybody's papers before treating them for severe, life threatening injuries. Imagine your gran died because we were too busy rifling through her wallet to work out if she really was a UK citizen.

That being said, some trusts already deny people life preserving surgery for multitudes of reasons such as being smokers, seems stupid that a smoker who has paid into the NHS their whole life gets shafted whereas a random health tourist can get all the treatment they need without paying a penny
>>
>>72021261
>People will die.
Doctors kill people all the time mate.
Nothing new about this.

If a strike thins thins the herd a little, so be it.
If you were so sick that you die in a single day, your chances weren't very good anyway.

Let them have their strike.
If you were facing what was effectively a pay cut, wouldn't you want the right to strike?
>>
>>72022461
Don't pay THEM for any treatment they do for people who can't pay. Make it all pro-bono on their part, unable to be used even as a charitable tax writeoff, and watch how quick most will switch their tune.
>>

And they can all come to the good ol' US of A where we actually pay our doctors.
>>
>>72021261
The new contract forces Doctors to work longer hours removing pay for them. This 11% pay rise the government doesn't cover the lose of income Doctors will face because government is removing the banding payments. Getting paid extra to work weekend and nights. Banding also meant that work for say A&E paid more than weekend work for a skin doctor.

But the government wants to remove that. Which means no matter what area of medicine you work in because some areas are 9-5 medicine that will be paid the same as a A&E doctor.

The new contract also removes fines hospital face for making doctors work over their allowed hours. Hands up who wants their doctor working 100 hours weeks. As most junior doctors already work close to 80 hour weeks, with most of that unpaid work like everyone in the NHS.

The government are also removing the support for career breaks which every doctor takes to under take research which doctor are expected to do.

The Tories are fucking the NHS by the back door and blaming it on greedy Doctors. When in fact the BMA rejected the government 11% pay rise and said they don't want it

>>
lets get a few things straight

1) the doctors are going on strike for pay/conditions not because of "muh patient safety". and thats fine, they are entitled to

2) Hunt is not proposing substantial NHS reform, so opposition to socialised healthcare is not a reason to support Hunt

3) junior doctors are often irritating self important cucks, but i trust them more than Jeremy Hunt who is mentally retarded

4) a&e will be covered by other drs anyway so if you get shanked by an angry muslim you wont die, probably

5) if you are butthurt then why not go private, oh right, ur a cheapskate just like everyone else

6) all this is irrelevant in the long run since the NHS will not withstand an ageing population, sky high net migration and increasing demand, it is already financially fucked and will collapse under its own retardation within 50yrs
>>
The worrying thing is how FUCKED the NHS is right now. I am a junior doctor. At my hospital, the surgical wards are covered by 4 doctors overnight - a registrar (top dog at night, does emergency operations), a senior house officer for admissions (sees anyone in A&E with surgical problems after they have been triaged), another SHO for vascular, cardiothoracics, ENT and urology inpatients, and a house officer for general surgery inpatients(in case any of them become more unwell through the night). Each of those jobs is 12 and a half non stop hours where you are literally lucky to have time to piss. There are meant to be 12 house officers. We have 8. That means 1/3 of all night shifts are not covered, and everyone on normal working days does the job of one and a third people. If no locum turns up, the work for that person gets shared amongst those who are left. We didn't have an admissions SHO every night last week. One of my colleagues did a 24 hour shift to cover it (he was on admissions 8am to 8pm and stayed on till 8am the next day) and then had to go and sleep, leaving us a man down for routine work the next day.

This is a repeating pattern everywhere in the country. I get (no exaggeration) 15+ emails a day with vacant shifts available to be filled. If every training post in the country was filled, there would be no vacant shifts. Training posts are empty because it's impossible to live a life where 9-5 means 8-7 every day because there is too much work to do. The new contract doesn't even improve weekend cover - it just makes it cheaper to provide.
>>
>>72028490

Don't get sick Tuesday nor Wednesday, gentlemen.
My mum is really ill she's on her way out and she knows it, but I often need a doctor to come and visit her house. Maybe twice or three times per week. She's got another month or two left. But I know when the exit sign is lit up. District nurse comes most days and a female carer helps me with more intimate responsibilities. (washing, toilet etc). I've done all the legal stuff with mum's solicitor. My sister lives in New Zealand and I'm a single dad. So it's tough.

I nursed my dad, my grandmother and grandad to the last days. And my wife died suddenly died in 2012 from a heart attack. We had a takeaway the night before and I got up at 6am for work. She was asleep and snoring softly. An hour later my daughter is fucking frantic. "Dad, mum's dead." On my mobile, screaming. My daughter was getting ready for school. What a fucking nightmare. I'm ex- Army and have seen shitty things. Death and worse. It's different with close family in a peaceful familiar place.
Doctors going on strike is a shit move. But they need new contracts. People WILL die or be left in pain and suffering because of this. But the bastard cunt government want to milk the junior doctors dry. The politicians all have private healthcare so fuck the plebs. FUCKING HELL.

It's a fucking horrible situation for everyone. And it makes me sad and mad. I don't blame the junior doctors, but they really shouldn't strike. The government are the real cunts in this. Here's a link:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/04/25/junior-doctors-strike-what-do-i-do-if-i-get-ill/

I have fought my country, nursed my closest family members to the end of their lives. Dad, grandparents, and now my mum. I have lost my wife. I do the very best for my 17 year old daughter and my friends. And I never withdrew nor will ever withdraw my efforts because of tough conditions. And nor will I complain. Life can be tough. But also beautiful.

Simples, just bill their government if the brown people cant pay.

Simples, just add interest at some extortionate rate (say, 100% per day) and deduct the amount from the foreign aid we give to that country, until the foreign gibs me dat is zero.

The other side will break sooner than we will.
>>
>>72029570
Well, there is already a recruitment hole, especially in some specialties like emergency medicine and in some areas of the country, especially up north. We are short of GPs and other doctors, this is shown by doctors graduating from medical schools abroad making up ~30% of each years intake of new doctors registering with the GMC.

Fundamentally we are simply not graduating enough medical students to provide the services we need. And the costs to the government/local trusts to increase medical school spaces/open new medical schools is simply something we don't have given the starvation of the health budget as it is.

So I imagine we'll keep on recruiting doctors, particularly from the EU, since people do want to come and work and live in the UK, and our home grown talents will leave, and the hole will grow bigger to the point where putting a plaster on it will not be possible by short term measures.

If anyone needs medical care during the strikes this week, please attend hospital: the striking junior doctors will be covered by consultant doctors, who are more than capable of handling the strain. (consultant = most senior)

Our Secretary of State is quick to point out that patients will come to harm, but forgets to offer reassurance to those who require urgent treatment that the hospitals will continue to be safely staffed.

The metaphor is apt - with a strike being a bee sting, it'll cause damage to the larger organism but ultimately you just shat your guts out stinging it.

None of this is going to fix the chronic underfunding that has crippled the NHS since Gordon Brown ran up the national debt to a ridiculous percentage of GDP with PFI. The NHS is going to be whittled away to emergency care plus childrens' hospitals only, or we'll go bankrupt.

Gentlemen, introducing the new NHS bot-209. This new technology will revolutionise the NHS in more ways than one. We will be deploying these throughout the country by next week to ensure that everybody has sufficient papers before their health treatment needs are met.
>>
Step 1: Intentionally under-fund the NHS, transforming surplus creating hospitals into debt ladden hospitals 'un-able to manage themselves'.

Step 2: Divide the workforce, for example a bad new contract for some staff.

Step 3: Push hospitals into crisis and paint staff in a negative light to gather public support.

Step 4: Effectively degrad personal morale to initiate highly skilled migration out of the NHS to value appreciating organisations (Private Practice and Overseas health services) with aim for a critical mass of vacant positions.

Step 5: Portray the NHS as failed and 'not a fit for modern society'.

Step 6: Sell easily saleable/profitable hospitals to private management companies.

Step 7:Split the NHS emergency and elective services and allow private companies e.g. ABC Healthcare sell priority to healthcare for a price (Need a operation? Pay or have insurance to get operation straight away and not wait 12 months until it's an emergency).

Step 8: Engage TTIP laws to allow American medical/pharmaceutical companies to force contracts under threat of lawsuit against the British Government, Crown and People.

Step 9: Keep the worst performing assets and hospitals, and proclaim that 'We have saved the NHS'.

Step 10: Retire and profit.
>>
>>72024883
>Charge people who can't give a NI number post-treatment in emergencies

This is what we do in America. You know what happens? People simply throw their bill away and never pay it.

That's why the blacks here go to the Emergency Room for even minor afflictions like sore throat, headaches, etc.. - because the Emergency Room can't refuse service. They treat the black patient, give them a bill, but never get paid. It's a huge problem in urban hospitals, and I've witnessed it first-hand.

How2fix: Deduct from the aid budget for those countries on an annual basis, with interest.

No aid budget (which is very few third-world countries)? Present the country with a list of passport numbers and an invoice, then in any subsequent dealings just make an agreement conditional on paying the medical bill.

The left have fostered an attitude that being critical of the NHS is not allowed and that is perfect, untouchable and holy. They have created the scenario whereby all its problems can never be fixed, because pointing them out is evil, and thus the problems get worse to the point whereby they are unfixable.
>>
>>72031490
This is the bit that pisses me off most about the strike - the left are wailing constantly that caving to evil Hunt's demands will cause fires of hell to rage throughout the hospitals and elderly and young alike will succumb to ... I don't know what, exactly. The BMA were all for accepting the contract if Hunt could scrounge up an extra 20% per hour for weekend work, which would close the gap between the old contract and new and basically bake in equal hours at equal pay. But Hunt's simply said that this won't happen, and rather than continue to negotiate (e.g. on the number of days worked per month, max consecutive shifts worked etc) the junior doctors just went batshit insane and want to overturn the contract.

These lefty useful idiots are just playing right into Hunt's moronic and cack-handed mismanagement of the NHS which will then be used as an avenue to abolish the system entirely.

Last time I needed to translate the half french-half campaign dialect of an old hillbilly to a Lebanese surgeon.
Personnaly I could not tolerate to be take in charge by a doctor not even fluent in french.

Thank the government for that, they choose to enroll less medical students to save money and import third world doctor (whose french doctors pass half their time fixing their shit) while throwing money to niggers.

Fuck this country.

I like your thinking but you're a fucking retard.

You know, when someone you knew from school ends up becoming a junior doctor, it really makes you think twice about trusting your life to these people. He was a fucking imbecile.

To me, the three main points are that the doctors get a higher base pay, have less hours classed as overtime, and the maximum hours of work per week is reduced. So how can it not be about money?

There are some questions that are not raised. Surely the government should pay them the wage that the market would deem fair? The government controls the universities and number of medical places. Surely if places are oversubscribed as fuck with qualified applicants then it means that you can lower the doctors' pay and still have med school applicants?

>inb4 that's harsh

I know, but everyone else lives like this. When a poor person complains to the media / whoever that mass uncontrolled immigration causes the market to deem them unnecessary / a low wage worker then they get called a racist islamophobe. The doctors get tonnes of sympathy. And this is after they were selected for medical school by a process that is set up to make it much harder for poor people to get these jobs.

Not that I particularly want to pick on doctors, as I think MPs and their spads should have seriously slashed salaries

implying patients won't die because they are treated by a doctor who hasn't slept in two days
>>

>he doesn't know that patients are going to be taken care of as normal but the junior doctors replaced by consultants instead
>>
>>72037745

>people die as a result of doctors not being there
>kill the doctors, thus ensuring that they're not there ever again

Fucking exceptional logic there

I will look after you over the next two days if the NHS cannot. Remember, I'm a great equalizer just like the NHS can be. And my health cover is free.

The Gov. has already offered them far better than they were getting.

If they back down everyone else will strike like this and it'll be chaos that will take Thatcher-level measures to solve. And if the Gov. caves and gives everyone what they want; we become Greece.

These Junior Doctors are pretty much putting people's lives at risk because they don't want to work Saturdays.

Government would be fucked whatever it did, so they will just wait it out and let public opinion turn against the jr. doctors.

Someone red pill me on this whole thing. From what I have gathered, Hunt wants NHS reform but is kinda shitty at implementing it. The left cries that he is even pointing out flaws. Still don't get why the junior docs are so buttblasted though
