You're ignorant
Explain why socialism wouldn't work in an economic powerhouse like the US
You'll feel the bern
Venezuela was doing good, they didn't diversify their economy and relied on oil and with the saudis trying to kill American shale companies by selling oil so cheap they messed up Venezuela
The US has a diverse economy and we have more imports

Venezuela is a shit hole. People have to stand in line for hours just to get inside an empty supermarket to see if they can find some toilet paper.

THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE ENOUGH TOILET PAPER.

Fuck off retard.
>>
>>71965110
As of recently because of their shitty decisions.
They didn't diversify their economy and are suffering for it.
Had they worked on making a more robust economy not dependant solely on oil they wouldn't be doing as bad
>>
>>71965026
Bernie's lost already. Him and his supporters are now demanding superdelegates overturn the will of democracy to get him elected. So much for the one honest man in the race.

>"democratic socialism"
>implying socialism hasn't always seen democracy as its greatest hurdle
Lenin claimed to "stand for democracy" too. Fuck off cunts.

International socialism is a joke.

>USA sanctions a country
>suddenly that country starts going to shit

Hmmm I wonder.....
>>
>>71965560
So the country is good at nothing but bleeding out natural resources and you think that they should "diversify" the economy? How? With what? I am curious as to see how your state mandated economy with dem programs instituted would work better.
>>
>>71963591
>Explain why socialism wouldn't work in an economic powerhouse like the US
You could suck the nation dry for a few years and technically it could "work" for a time but eventually you'd run out of other people's moneys, and the lack of productivity would lead to stagnant or declining standards of living.

>>
>>71965560
They couldn't do that because everything had to be done with politics in mind sense the government controlled everything, thus only the markets that were easy to work with, I.E. Selling natural resources, every moron in the world can get the concept of 'you take this from ground and give me money'.(Governments/bureaucratic systems like the easy way out that makes them look better in the short term, rather then real results that work for the long term)
>>
That's what sanctions do. Russia has the same problem. Venezuela gave oil for free to poor and elderly New Yorkers and look at the thanks. Libya, etc etc. Petro Dollar is weakening

>>
>>71965560
Shir the fuck up. You know nothing of the situation there.

Before Chavez died, the government was "acquiring" businesses that they thought they could run better, regardless of whether or not they were doing fine.

Then Chavez died and a huge power vacuum had to be filled, and now there are cartels posing as socialists, ruining what little is left.

Commies say the same thing about Cuba... but Cuba is free to trade with any other country in the world.

>They didn't diversify their economy and are suffering for it.

This is very true. They put everything on oil and the prices plummeted along with their economy. Typical shortsightedness that almost every South American government suffers from.

There's a lot of wasted potential in Venezuela. There are many areas that could be used for farming cash crops or raising cattle. Instead are left for drug cartels to use as distribution and cultivation centers.
>>
>>71966613
>There are many areas that could be used for farming cash crops or raising cattle.

But who is going to do it at an industrial scale?

>Private enterprises with know-how?
Why would they? they would be extremely limited by the socialist government that would take a huge chunk of the profits, and the social stability isn't exactly the best, the government for one day to the other could decide on confiscating the lands. The risk simply does not justify it for.

>Public founded enterprises?
They don't have enough know-how, the people that have actual skills have left the country, so the state can't pull it off, just like it can't drill its own oil reserves, being depended on USA big oil.

Marvels of socialism!

>>71963591
Social Democracy isn't socialism. Anyway, Venezuela's problem, among other things, was that they failed to diversify their economy, which might have been inevitable because the average IQ in Venezuela is not that high.

They also faced American opposition for ideological reasons.
>>
>>71966603
What's the difference. You could call the head of pvdsa an official because it's nationalised

>muh sactions

I love this meme

Venezuela's socialist govt is literally funded by American consumers of oil

We have been their #1 trading partner for decades

they can't even get a lot of basic goods without importing from US or China becuase they made their country literally 186'th worst country in the world to start a business
>>

You think US bureaucrats would be less corrupt that Venezuelan bureaucrats, even when the US would give them an even more expansive and powerful bureaucracy? Fucking racist shitlord!
>>
>>71967370
>industrial scale

Small private farms could do it also, if the government wouldn't tax them into oblivion, or force them to buy high-priced insurance plans.

Also, not having any diesel or gas for farm equipment fucks everything up.
>>
>>71966613

>They put everything on oil

Not necessarily. If you look at their production of oil, it has gone DOWN since Chavez took over. Basically, get oil out of the ground is all they can do, and only with help from foreign companies. Manufacturing and a strong service sector depends on a stable government with predictable laws and inflation. When you start nationalizing industries and force people to sell products below their production cost, they will fail. They tried their currency controls (one of the main problems they have) and it only artificially propped up their currency and put their exporters out of business. You are now looking a country that doesn't produce anything meaningful but empty promises.

LOL you are clueless.

With all the oil Venezuela has (largest proven reserves in the world) it should be as rich as Norway, the UAE or Qatar.

Instead, thanks to corrupt socialist shits, it's a complete Africa-tier shithole complete with rationing cards, no toilet paper, squatters taking over entire office buildings, and declining oil, agriculture and industrial production since the commie shits started nationalizing everything.

And to top it off it's about to go full hyperinflation mode thanks to reckless money printing.
