I started smoking when I was up really late writing my dissertation because I needed five minute breaks to unwind and I'd already had experience with nicotine patches so I knew a rough idea of what a nicotine high feels like.
I started out having just one cigarette and lying down enjoying the full body tingling and feeling the stress melt away for a good 10 minutes. Then it started taking two cigarettes in quick session. At my worst I was sucking down two packs to try and reach that high, I then realised that every drug is best enjoyed with long breaks between uses. So now I wait 3 or 4 months of not smoking and treat myself to a whole delicious pack with a nice beer in the evening. It is literally bliss. I could just not pick it up again but I honestly love the rush, the warm relaxing feeling. I've done many drugs before and since cigarettes but they'll be the ones I always come back to.
tl;dr cigarettes have a great high if you know how to smoke, fags just pretend to like them to look cool.
