Yeah, it's a bad solution. Continue to decrease government support for academic instruction so all students bear the true cost of their university. No loan forgiveness. Eventually when enough idiots taking economically worthless social justice classes have their lives ruined by their choices, word will get out that it leads to a miserable life.
Know where the gender gap in STEM majors is the smallest? In poor countries. Where is it biggest? In wealthy countries. Why? Because when women are isolated from the consequence of their choices, they go for the easy path. When there are severe lifelong consequences, they're a bit smarter about what the choose to study.
