It depends who the candidate is. If it's a moderate Republican like Kasich it's likely to go red. If it's someone more right wing like Cruz it will most likely vote Dem. A Kasich/Rubio ticket should get it done.
If they give the nomination to someone other than Trump, I would certainly hope they get punished for it but suffering a humiliating defeat.
