It's a nice little idea. Instead of trying to define intelligence as objectively as possible in order to measure it directly, a task that seems hardly doable, you look for a random variable that is well correlated with things that would fit in any reasonable definition of intelligence, like academic success in hard sciences, success in general, nobel prize winners, etc...
IQ, as far as I'm aware, does this fairly well and has been shown to have a good genetic basis.

Test that measures pattern recognition and potential intelligence. It's racis because it's made and tested on people and applied to others on their standard. Really, it's because it shows people that grew separated are differed and race is real. Asians and whites tend to do best. Average is meant to be 100, really it's between 95-115 and dropping.
Of course it doesn't measure true intelligence, you could have amazing cognitive potential and not know shit or be simple but wise.
Intelligence is also correlative with creative ability and language/syntax.

They ran an IQ test on me and I scored 129, 1 point below 'highly gifted'. It's better than 97.5% of the people who take the test. The psychiatrist said it was really exceptional.
And guess what? They ran the test on my because I did so bad at highschool. At elementary school I had exceptionally good grades (had the maximum grades for some tests at my country to test how good the school is). The teacher who worked there for 25 years said she never saw someone get the maximum grades and I did it 3 times in a row.
At highschool I was already doing very bad at school, never learned how to work/study. Having a high IQ is a meme and bring you nothing. If you want to make carreer, you have to be passionate, work hard, have luck and network all you can. Having a high IQ is only a small factor, almost irrelevant. Yeah people throw the "online IQ tests are inaccurate" accusation a lot but I haven't heard any reasons for why it would be. I mean sure I guess it's not like having a professional directly test you, but the professional isn't making the test up himself, he is following instructions as well.
In years of taking different tests online with same SD of 15 with a span of a year between each test I consistently scored around 130 with not much deviation.
I'm also a math grad and ironically if I recall correctly 130 is the average IQ of PhD applicants in math.
