The awful terrible truth is that a lot of kids are directionless after high school. The military is a fine option that will give them structure and guidance during their early adulthood. Of course professional efficiency isn't enough for a lot of these kids. They need an 'anchor' to keep them sane. A lot of these kids see relationships as their way of keeping their shit together so they choose to get married. Divorce is usually quick to follow since they're both so young.
I'm not sure if it's the case for enlisted men, but officers can have their careers put on hold for a year if they go through divorce. Also, infidelity is punishable by court marshal.

This is common. Guy gets out of basic (or even is a newly commissioned officer) and some tail throws themselves at him. Now, here is a bit anecdotal evidence here but from what I see there are two types of people who join the AF--ultra STEM nerds and alpha types who want to be fighter pilots (but end up doing security gate duty because they are fucking dumb).

As a former Navy enlisted guy, I loved visiting Air Force bases. So clean and spacious. Nice barracks (even for enlisted). On-base clubs were pretty good. Lots of on-base recreation (golf, paintball, camping).

The only major difference I saw was Navy Chiefs and the enlisted structure. In the Navy it seemed you had separate chow for every tier. E-1 through E-6, E-7 through E-9, and Officers. In the USAF everyone eats together.
